Pádruig's sketchbook- constructive criticism is very welcome

I'm a beginner but I think drawing is a lot of fun and I want to become better so criticism is very welcome, let it rip!

Cool. But dont think too much about technicalities. Just jump in and create. Draw on paper and stuff too.

I draw quite a lot on paper too but I don't have a scanner or a good camera so I can't post it here I'm afraid. I will do more digital spontaneous sketch stuff though.

    Some studies and sketches

Borrowed my parent's scanner so i could upload some traditional sketches. The last is my own idea for an armour for the character Tywin Lannister from the A Song of Ice and Fire books.

    Sketch

Supposed to resemble Blade Runner but his face turned out a bit too oblong.

Good to see you doing these composition studies and your values are looking good! Just remember, black is really rare to find in nature. Try to use a broader range of pencils too, you want to get some dark lines in there amongst the subtle ones Hope I helped!

Nouge- Thanks, yes I noticed that too, #6 was sloppily done and when i try to do likeness from a reference I somehow lose the proportions easier than when i do faces from imagination like in #7. I generally draw more from imagination so I guess drawing accurately from reference is an artistic muscle I have to strengthen more.

JackGriffin- Thank you! Yes now that you mention it the black looks a bit too strong. Some of the value in my traditional sketches is lost in the scanner I'm afraid, but you are absolutely correct in that a lot darker values could be used. Ironically the issue in my traditional medium sketches is opposite to that of the issue in my digital ones. You're remarks are very much appreciated, you're a gentleman and a scholar!
