    IDW # 191 : Electric Scepter

    IDW # 191 : Electric Scepter

    Topic: Electric Scepter
    Deadline: Sunday, January 15

The royal family this scepter is for first rose to power due to the family's control of an extensive electric power empire which eventually elevated them to the position of monarch. Although they are an evil family, they rule their realm with an iron fist. Design a scepter that incorporates their "electric" background, be it a crackling, imposing light show, or protective and taser-like in function.

    Brief:
    1. Design and draw an electric scepter.
    2. That's it... now draw!

Nice topic, we'll see if I'll be able to finish something (IDW remains the only weekly activity that I haven't submitted anything for, so hopefully I can change that)....

here's some really quick silhouettes, already got an idea so tomorrow I'll get some sketches going an see if I can come up with something....

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!

Here is my wip. This was quite fun, kind of going for a Brass Sci fi kind of thing. Perhaps civilization crumbled and some one found this remnant and used it to control the less fortunate people.

So this is my first post under the Industrial Design weekly competition, which is odd to me because I am actually an industrial design student.
I've started off this round with some thumbnails of basic scepter forms, drawing inspiration from traditional scepters, rifles, and tasers. I think I've got everything down except the ergonomics of the scepter, but no one ever said that scepters were meant to be ergonomic.

My first thought for the electricity theme made me look to Nikola Tesla, so I dub my piece the Tesla Scepter. I tried to go for a deco look. Here's a quick WIP so far:

Here's my shot. I don't believe I'll manage to apply color, so this is it, sort of. C&Cs are welcome
