Some stuff I did in the past 2 weeks. I'll start uploading regularly to this thing, and if I have the time I'll scan some of my sketches on paper.

First four are tonal studies (about 1-2 hours each), the one after is a sketch idea for a painting, last one is a concept sketch starting off with just a silhouette.

interesting stuff so far, biggest critic would be edges. The second set of images all have a blurriness to them that a few minuets of refining could clear up pretty good. Except the pear- his edges are pretty clear
Overall you seem to have a good grasp on volumes and proportions and stuff. Keep up the good fight!
    Happy sketching

For the concept one, it feels like the highlights aren't following the form

I love the tonal studies! keep it up

Rhubix: Thanks Ah I know exactly what you mean. I think it might be the brush I'm using, making it more difficult to get those really crisp edges. The fruit study was done slightly different using a mask with a hard brush 100% flow.

Kudaku: Thanks. Yea, I see what you mean. I was focusing more on trying to create with lines less with form. I'll work on that.

    Diarum: Cool, thanks.

    ------

The first is another 2 hour master copy for understanding tone. Frazetta really does a good job with muscles, I might do another from him soon.

The other is a thumbnail idea for that fairy painting. Trying to apply some composition knowledge I'm learning.

    Poetry Man: Thanks

Wingal: You're right I should push one. I did a 3 and half hour recently. I think if I do one of about 6 hours, I'll really understand a lot of the finer details.

Theodor: Thanks. I'm learning a bit from his work. I recently gained a liking to a lot of old school fantasy.

    -----

First two are gesture drawings. I won't clutter this page with these things. However, I'm seeing if working with silhouettes and value only will help

Another frazetta master copy. 3 and 1/2 hours.

Sketch of a knight girl... I'm doing something wrong, I know it.

Last is more thumbnails for my fairy painting.

Really nice work, I love your shading. Your composition is really nice, too, especially in your first image. Can't wait to see more.

    Hey Jason!

Nice varied studies, keep it up. With the knight girl, I would say her torso is a bit too narrow for my liking and her neck should be more prominent. I really dig the pose though.

    Zombie_chinchilla: Thanks

Akkibox: thanks ^_^ Yea I notice what you mean now >_> Looking at it a second time that makes sense. I sort of have not really been adjusting anatomy that much with some of my sketches... I should really do that!

    Chath: thank you

    ----

First one uploaded is a figure from imagination with the idea of testing out my knowledge about light sources from different angles. I'll focus on this again soon!

Second is a portrait built up from a silhouette through basic values. I'm definitely learning form. Very quick, don't care about anatomy.

Third is a still life from real life! it was tough. Must do MORE!

I find this still life well done, especially how you have focused the knife and detailed it a bit more.

The intensity of the light reflecting off the knife is very effective. I'm not sure what the two objects surrounding the wine glass are, or how they are resting on the table.

Eisyel: Thanks that was my intention. The ideas I'm going for right now is to figure how to get the same affect of what I saw the first time I looked at the completely arranged still life and what caught my eye.

    ----

So here are more still lifes. Prettty boring. But I'm focusing on basics.

The first is 1 hour, the second 4 hours.
