If this is a job for the brave or stupid, this guy comes down firmly on the side of stupid - but he's heard stories and he's off to seek his fortune. With only crude equipment and a rudimentary grasp of the situation in the wastelands he sets off with high hopes and a life expectancy of about twenty minutes.

    J.R. Barker - CHoW#272 - Stalker

My stalker character found an alien artifact that can transport people and objects through time and space. He's lost his right arm during his travels into other dangerous zones, but has replaced that limb with a specialized tool that allows him to detect and handle artifacts.

As much as I love your ideas jrbarker, Lucdehaan and marko markovic, the brief stated modern post-apocalyptic, and yours seem to be futuristic. So I cant vote for them. I still really like your ideas though, don't take what I'm saying as an insult.
As for you guys, Parsakoira and Aeronik, both are just fantastic, however, when it comes to whose is best, Aeronik has to take my vote because of how original his idea is.

That's a totally valid point. Although the brief said the artifacts could be "of alien origin" so I assume we can use a little alien tech incorporated into the designs. Plus I figure the environment can probably be just about anything since the objects "possess dangerous powers beyond comprehension".

Here we go, good luck guys!

*Being a big fan of the game, I chose to stay close to its visual style, just focusing more on the scouting/explorartion aspect than on combat, hence the silent VSS 'Vintorez' (literally 'Thread Cutter') on his back and the anomaly detector in the hand. As a reference to the movie, I added a piece of cloth on the nut he's about to throw.

true what u say, to bad u cant vote for us ^^. I think for me its becouse i looked at the book "Road side picnic" more then the game becouse i found it more interesting to work from that then the game since the visual style is already set there. the books gives more freedom in this. Thats also why mine carries the 2 copper disks metioned in the book .

    happy holidays~

Thought I would use the extra time to improve my atrocious character sheet, but a wife in the hospital forbade that.

The Stalkers are employed by the Associates to retrieve dangerous artifacts from outside the city walls. Sue to the high risk of contamination, Stalkers whose suits are damaged are not allowed to return to the city.

It is a profession of the desperate.

Finding his son wasting away of disease drives a father to don the company's exoskeleton to earn enough to pay for his son's operations. It was a thousand to one shot for a happy ending.

Through the cracked glass of his helmet he looks at the holopic of the son he will never be allowed to see again.

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the
mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all
science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who
can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe,
is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.

fucking finally, i had an electrical blackout of a couple of days and then i encountered a looot of issues with my connection and i wasnt able to access the thread tools in order to make a poll.... Also id like to remind you to name your entries correctly, it makes our work a lot easier. I did not disqualify any of these entries because i felt merciful and the poll would have been a really small one...
