    Question Wacom driver 6.2.0-2

    Hmmm...my previous post never materialized.

Sorry if this becomes a double post.

(...or i got moderated because of the link i posted?)

Well i wanted to know if anyone knew why wacom removed, Wacom driver 6.2.0-2 from it's support page.

I'm currently using it and haven't noticed any problems so far.
There are a few new features that have been added (notably the pressure graph editor and a new precision mode thingy (UI?) )

Here's the driver in-case anyone wants to give it a go:

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24358666/Wac....2.0-2.exe.zip

    It's for Intuos4 Win7 x64.

Please create a restore point and backup your wacom settings before you do.

Please let me know if there are any issues or features i may have overlooked or haven't noticed.

    Thanks.

Might be for good reason though. http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?...tart=20#p33960

They acknowledge there's a problem with that driver, but haven't said what.

Is this with an intuos 4 though? I think the second thread is pointing out a problem with the driver for an intuos 4?

I'm not having any problems with my intuos4 on that driver, if anything I've had less problems.

Does that include the 2nd problem about the OLED customization? Which I posted.

haha, it's kind of funny that when wacom finally releases a driver that works (for me at least) and has the features most users have been asking for, they take it down to address other "minor" issues. In my years of using their products i've never seen this happen.

If anything they ignore it till people stop complaining. Change has come to Wacom. hehehehe.

Hopefully they don't break it when they bring it back.

@Arshes: the first thread seems to address a Cintiq issue. But from what i read it seems to be more about hardware than the drivers itself.

The second seems to be about Custom OLED icons (which i don't care much for as far as the basic functionality is there).

*Fingers crossed* Hope wacom don't break the drivers when they finally bring them back

The first post said it fixed a problem the last driver had which it stalls the tablet from functioning properly. I in fact replied to your post when you had posted the release that causes the driver to stop randomly with the intuos3.
The current driver you are posting on Dropbox, they acknowledged fixed this issue but Wacom mentions they pulled it for another reason. Which goes to the 2nd post.

From what I understand the custom OLEDs was a promised update. That's not minor at all if you break it.

It's minor if you don't use it but others who have been promised this update it's a problem. For those promised this update, I can see it being a major uproar considering.

However, there may be another reason for the update to be removed as well, and it may be for good reason.

    nope, mine is intuos3.
I find it amusing that wacom representative doesn't know himself what's the deal with this exact driver -
    http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8212
they didn't even bother sending details to an internet support person when took the drivers down
(I'm not even talking about releasing a temp. driver solution with pressure curve added while they do the custom oled dark magictry and other patches...)

(btw, I absolutely love how someone explained unlocking precision mode for i3, and wacom won't probably take it down before 26-27th...)

Rolled back to the old 6.1.7-3 drivers to compare, and still i don't notice any problems. Maybe it's a security issue. We'll have to wait for the release notes of 6.2.0(-3?) to find out i guess.

    Ah, well...*sigh*
The ways of the Wacom Elders are quite mysterious indeed.

Well doing some more searching for the driver also turned up this post? http://forums.luxology.com/discussio....aspx?id=61039 So monitor mapping may be an additional issue Wacom is working on.

I dual-boot XP SP3 and Win7, on the XP install I have my old serial tablet connected pretty much because of the old drivers that have the old pressure curse that was removed later on, this new pressure curse is much better compared to that old one, it offers much more control. I get why they locked the Max pressure slider but I still wished they didn't since some programs are a bit harder on the pressure than other. The new pressure curve is a major upgrade either way, in my opinion probably more so than the 2048 pressure levels of the Intuos 4.

I also did that precision hack, it totally works, I'm using an Intuos1 A5 and works great, I set it to the eraser button, I think the lowest Fine setting is the best. If you have SAI it's kinda like setting the Stroke Stabilizer to a really high level but limited to a reduced area of the screen.

I don't know if you guys noticed or not, but I noticed a new service in this driver.

    Nope, didn't notice.

Could it be a clue to the new Wacom product/update alluded to in this thread http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=234062 ?

I assume they may be adding the touch features of the Bamboo Touch line to the Intuos.

If so it could make a lot of sense why wacom removed it. Maybe they wanted it to coincide with its release?

    Hmmmm... the plot thickens.

I also noticed the default setting for the "Pan/Scroll..." side button works in CorelPainter12 now (activates the grabber tool), initially i had to map it to Spacebar.

Yeah, if you go to the services part in Windows, you'll see it. It threw me off because I usually have to go back and forth with the PC/Tablet driver and the Wacom one (disabling PC/Tablet service used to make Netflix/Silverlight crash - doesn't seem the be the case anymore?)

...and yeah Hugh, that's where I was going with the mention of the new service...

Found it Arshes. Seems i hadn't redone the rollback i did to compare the previous driver with the "new" one. Now that i'm on driver 6.2.0-2. I can see it there, bright as day .

Or could it be.... a newly redesigned (to match the New Intuos design) CintiqWX12 *gasp* with a bigger screen (cintiq17WX?) and multi touch features?

nah...well, a man can only dream . A safe bet is still a multi touch intuos. The bamboo line already has it.
