I don't fully understand what do you mean the difference between copying and translating? I'm very much interest in doing some bargue studies

When I read that line I wrote, it's confusing to me too!
In the previous studies I was limiting myself to just the most minimal lines. Therefore I had to "translate" the image into more simplified marks. If I were directly copying something, I would not make the effort to simplify anything. With the later study, I allowed myself to simplify less and copy more. It felt less beneficial as a study because I didn't have to think as much. I must admit the difference between those studies of mine are very minimal.

gotcha, is more analysing in order to do less actual work in the piece, but also understanding the construction or something like that.

Here's another figure drawing. This one has some digital touch-up, but is mostly vine and compressed charcoal.

This image has sat unfinished for a long time. Originally I was going to render it more tightly, but I will leave it as so.

Great studies Lane! Particularly your paintings are a delight to look at. You´ve got great edge control. Keep it up.

Here's a recent cover illustration for a steampunk mystery/romance novel, and a couple of unused sketches for it.
