ua your work is jaw dropping, very loose paintings and yet they feel complete.
about the last post, well there is different minds that work different ways, i agreed with you, a painting can be simple and amazing, i think pictures kinda have a limit in how deep they can be, you can always mix with the art of writing or something else.

Beautiful Sketchbook! I really love the traditional look of your works, as well as the fantastic lightning and the narrative elements. The tutorials on your deviantart-site are also a nice find.

''I've decided that too often I'm trying to create an image that tells a story while also having some broad appeal. It's an impossible goal, and leads to abandoned paintings. That revelation came to me while I was doing this simple study. A painting doesn't have to tell a story. It's okay to just focus on a simple objective, such as creating a sense of light on the side of an ugly guy's head. Sure, it's not a profound painting. Maybe it's not even very good, but at least it did get finished and I learned from the process.''
This opened up my eyes! Awesome sketchbook, post #379 = winning.

Much of my day to day work involves really complicated/laborious compositions, so I often aim for simplicity with personal work.

I had the recent opportunity to join Iain McCaig's workshop at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live 3, the art convention in Kansas City.

In the workshop on visual storytelling, McCaig demonstrated his process with a re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood.

In a post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting, Red is a brain-washed clone who's arm was harvested by the Originals. Perhaps for cruelty or entertainment, the Originals replace the clone body parts with all manner of prosthetic limbs.

In the above concept Red 3 has a cumbersome, but effective, weapon.

Below, is a completely different interpretation of the same character. Only this time, the gun arm is a crippling burden.

I think it's interesting to think about how changing one factor can effect all other aspects of a character.

these two last characters look really awesome(not that your other works don't)
and the fact that you have taken that one mechanical hand cliche to some further limits and used it as a tool to tell a different story is really interesting
