    Fresh Art Center Grad

    Greetings All,

My name is Ari Bilow and I am a recent graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. I am currently weighing my employment options and very seriously considering a career in the game industry. If you are a recruiter, please find the link to my website below to evaluate my qualities as a designer and illustrator. Thank you.

These two pieces are amazing. The first one is very well illustrated, i just think they background is too light for the forground or the forground values are too dark. I love the 2nd picture. The lighting is just awesome. Very good colors and it look very authentic and eastern. I am preparing my skills and portfolio right now as im graduating high school for art center, and seeing stuff like this just makes me that much more inthusiastic.

After looking at your website, I know you won't have any problem! The stuff you posted is nice, but you have some incredible designs on your site. Your style looks very much geared towards designs for gaming or movies. I would wish you good luck, but you won't need it.

Just wanted to drop by and say I love this stuff! I'm an incoming ACCD student (spring 2005) and I was at the school during the senior show to check out people's work, and your display at the front, in my opinion, was one of the most impressive ones overall. Good luck! I'm sure you'll be successful in whatever you decide to do.

The work on your site is exceptional. I haven't seen anything quite like it for ages. If I was an art director in a games company, I'd bite yer friggin' hand off. But I'd also want to see some familiarity with one or more 3D packages. I'm not sure if you have these skills; if you do, your chances of finding employment will increase considerably. Of course, it depends on who you're applying to. The big beasts like EA, and Activision, can afford the luxury of a dedicated concept artist, but in my experience, the smaller ones are generally looking for allrounders.

    Great stuff

    keep em coming

Hey Ari. I hope you remember me. It's Oskar. It was great too have met you. Like others have said, your work is exceptional. Your sense of design is great. I have a few questions though. What product/I.D classes and teachers would you recommend I take (as an illus. major). You seem to have a great sense of design, lighting, and composition. I know I can learn to paint, but what classes taught you how to design? Scott Robertson?

Btw, I also saw your huge display and man, it was impressive as hell! Those prints were GIGANTIC!

    Great Work!

Stunning work! Your stuff reminds me a lot of Ryan Church, which (in my opinion) is one of the biggest compliments one can receive.

Keep it up! And please post lots.

Wow, these are all very nice! I especially like the enviroment designs on your site. Is that a hint of Lebbeus Woods I see in some of your architecture?

    Loga4: thank you very much

brkofdon: Thanks, I find that having people populating an environment makes the image far more interesting.

isolation man: if there is an influence, it is not intentional. I take that as a compliment though.

kimchee: Thanks.. i watched his videos.. buy them.. they are very good

I.was.ink; Of coarse I remember you Oskar. Fellow mos def fan = we are homies

Summer Pudding: thanks.. I am trying to avoid 3d, actually I did 3d pro for a few years and it almost bit my carpel tunnels off. I am familiar with much of the 3d vernacular, but would rather avoid it due to potential wrist injury

Groover McNab: Good luck at Accd.. it is a damn fine institution, but you REALL have to assert what you want to come out of there having any hope of paying off astronomical loans. $50,000 is what I am lookin' at and people tell me that is great. sigh.

Scubasteve: thanks, design is first and is much more difficult than illustrating. work in 3's. light medium and dark, big medium and small, etc.

jetpack42: thank you, I am flattered by your unfortunate condition.

nofingers: thanks and DOH! ya can't win them all right?

Axiom: Thank you, The way I am achieving depth in the first one is your criticism. objects that are farther away take on the color of the atmosphere. I am sure you know this though.

I totally understand what your saying. And after looking at your site i prety much take my small crits back. You know what your doing, i just thought some of the forground lines were a little to dark but its not a big deal at all. The design on it is exceptional. Your site rocks and everything within every section does too. I dont think you will have any problems getting a job.
