Well turns out I really suck at illustration this was just a random idea that I came up out of scribbles then I realized they look like space marines from starcraft or warhammer so thank to my cousin who gave me crit about this he say try changing the space marine in the front into thinner armor but I'll like to hear your crits about it to
Right now they do look identical to blizzard spacemarines.
Is that what your going with now?, if not i would begin with getting rid of those huge blocky shoulderpads :o
regardless if you'll stick with it or not, i can recommend trevors new stream
on all things scifi related , http://www.livestream.com/claximumoverdrive
and perhaps look up some moviestills of guys in space armor, study the materials and texture, then apply.
You can also study real objects. Donato uses marbles as ref for reflections.
hence the comment absolute crap lol yeah I'm rehasing this comp and try to design something different and yeah those shoulderpads are too bulky thanks for the tip
Hope to see another update soon, your colour studies look great.
Landscape in post #22 looks really nice, it has lots of interesting elements. Liked the lizards as well. Let's see some more figures!
a update on that crummy space marine sketch I changed everything cause I didnt like how it turned out
Nice stuff here; I especially like the onion studies on page 1! BTW, I'm a big Mucha fan, too.
Nothing wrong with space marines lookalikes, but I noticed the guy's head in 31 looks too small for his arms to actually reach the arm-shaped armor parts. Or maybe it's a powered exoskeleton thing like Aliens/Avatar?
exoskeleton and woot woot for being a mucha fan
a little project I'm coming up with kinda
Influence part 3 this might be a little too big
these sketches are a eyesore in my eyes lol
Master studies using Zhaoming wu and gregg kruetz paintings as refs value wise I think I nailed it details not quite
next up sargent studies and traditional s**t (I think)
Wow, nice studies here! How long did you spend on those copies? They look pretty awesome to me, especially the still life.
I'm a total noob, but I'll mention it anyhow in case it's useful: you said you were going for value, but to my eye the girl's upper right arm, her left foot, and the top right of the background are a bit off value-wise. That said, you're much better than me, so feel free to tell me to stuff it
BTW, I like the update to the space marine sketch in #36.
cresua thanks for the reply
cinder it took me 2hours for each one and thanks for the comment
Nice work and studies!
Thanks for charing the inspiraton maps.
I like the environmentals, nice concept.
more cahracters for the project type 0 project
Gooood, keep it up!
thanks for the comment to be honest looking at it now it looks a little anime-ish looks like it back to life drawing classes
some traditional sketches from life drawing and 2 still life studies
I really like those life drawings above--those are great.
Cinder- thanks for the comment
another life drawing
Very brave of you to attempt pomegranates for real - not sure if I'd want them too close to my computer. You're doing the right things, just keep doing them. With the master studies, maybe you could spend a bit longer on them to really push them.
Was inspired by studio ghibli to do this
Thanks for comment, I like for still life and anatomy drawings. I wish I had something constructive to say, looking at your sketchbook, I thought maybe you like this http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...172943&page=33
Oh yeah matt khor he's part of my inspiration thanks for showing me that
hey man, great sketchbook! it looks to me like you know what you want and you have a pretty good idea how to get there, just keep up the perseverance now. my suggestion to you would be to try doing some form studies with pencil (or charcoal if you have it).. photoshop is nice for that too, but pencil will better get the foundational technique that you want instilled into you, plus you can take it with you on the road
