Extension eh! Nice. This is what I expected to be the final. But now I can work on it some more. Let me know what you think!

    Great stuff all around!

This is where I'm at with mine. Learned loads, mostly what I still need to work at. Crits really appreciated so I can study those areas next week.

    Cheers!

Here's yesterday's progress, I couldn't connect to the internet yesterday night, so it's a chance the deadline was extended!

Almost finished, just not sure what else to include. I'm thinking of having him reaching for a gun or holding a remote (possibly to detonate something). Still not certain.

    Any ideas?

Lucassie: Nice rendering so far. But why does he seem naked? Is that his way of "impressing" the men? Maybe change the color of the trousers (if there are any)

Supervlieg: Haha thank you. My initial idea was to have a girl in a bed behind him, and that he just woke up because his ship was under attack, grabbed his boots and jacket and was about to join the fight (still contemplating that idea).

Lucassie: Agreed the rendering is look pretty good, especially the face but read the brief dude

'The Red Commander, is standin on the bridge of the most enormous starship of the entire fleet, gazing in to the far distance. With cold eyes he prepares to pull the final, and hopeless attack on the overpowering enemy forces, wishing to end the war with one swift strike.'

And you need to make him look like a kick ass comander of an entire galactic fleet... From the future. Not Rasputin caught with his pants down, hammered on vodka. But seriously it's so important you stick to the brief

I haven't really thought about the scene so forgive the unimaginative static pose, but I'm really enjoying designing this guy

    WIP so far

    Comin' in hot.

I found a badass Russian actor for reference who I saw in a film a while back. He looks like the love child of Hans Gruber and Chuck Norris. Not sure why, but I love almost anything Russian. I may just love Vodka... Yup, Vodka.

Also I would like to point out that my fellow artist and I find the new rule about modelling sheets simply inadequate. The chow has always been about drawing awesome characters and having fun while doing it. It was the only place to let your mind wonder freely and this new rule is killing it. I personally believe that imitating the industry workflow is unnecessary in this environment. I think other artists would agree here with me that drawing the modelling sheet is the most boring thin ever. Lets keep CHOW free of boredom .

Yep, this is the most hated thing in Dominance War, no one likes to do modeling sheet(and yes, this is for 3d modeling, for what/who we must do it here?). This is my opinion =)

Verehin and Jrbarker, your entries lack the character sheet which is required in order to get into the poll. The character sheet must contain at least a front and a back view of the character design. I understand if you dont know about this it is a relatively new rule, but it helps to keep this challenge more towards designing rather than illustration.
Man, I got a new job recently, so really dont have a time for this(I don't want to do fast lines). If my opinion is somehow offensive - you can skip me and not include it in the finals, no problem

Chow Rule: "Character sheets should at the very least show a sketch of the front and back of the character and a couple of early thumbnails/silhouettes."

I just interpret this rule literally and keep it as a sketch (level of finish being open to interpretation). I see it as they want us to demonstrate that we have at least thought about the whole character in our development process. Maybe I'm wrong but so far nobody has told me otherwise.

I'd rather have just the wips back as well. The front and back sketches are always an afterthought and mostly the reasons why I rarely finish these challenges.
