Good job hammering away at these studies! One thing I noticed that I think would improve you latest one is the direction of your pencil strokes esp on her leg. If you had them going around the leg rather then down the leg I think they d bring out a greater sense of roundness and form. Being conscious of this over all the forms on the body will likely yield better results. Take a look at some old master drawings and you ll see they do the same thing.
I am loving each piece. Actually you helped me really push my shading technique as well as figure out that a sharp pencil is key to a great value transition in terms of technical aspects. Looking at your forms visually also has allowed me to see a greater sense of light to dark and the mid tones in between. +5!
Ezion: Honestly, I'm working the figure right until the buzzer. I do try to at least suggest why the figure is situated the way they are in case it isn't clearly indicated by the pose. For the most part, however, time is tight and all of that 24 hours is spent modeling and trying to maintain a clean surface and transitions. This is the intent of the study.
Craig D: Thanks a lot, man. I'm glad you think so. Seeing the work of other artists around here in person is a constant reminder of how deep the rabbit hole goes.
