again trying to keep my thread daily, some sketches done during lectures n stuffs.

its 4am in the morning, and interestingly i've been awake since 1am the previous day, that makes 27 hours awake and still counting! (class at 9am..)

explaining some facial proportions to a classmate and eventually having fun practicing my pencil rendering

boring lecture on art history and colour theory, so started doodling a huge face..

boring lecture on art history and colour theory, so started doodling a huge face..

a design for colour theory class, we have to paint it with the 12 flat colours of the colour wheel.

    --

next up some gesture drawings, not too sure if they are really counted as gestures but i tried

    referenced from vilppu's handy manual

digital portrait of galadriel from LotR, photoshop and done quite some months back.

angela: heh, how funny becos i definitely envy YOUR skills..

mogando: thanks, i got my wacom a few months ago! really great to use~

    geertje: thanks!

draw/refrigeratorco: unfortunately im not in any life drawing classes currently, perhaps only next semester or even the following one however i will try to do "life drawing" on the trains and around..

general grevious: thanks! glad you like

    arghmisfit: thanks for comment! ^^

whoa! fuckin whoa!!! i mean, i saw the older stuff, and i was like "yeah, this is cool" but then i saw the digital paintings, and thought to myself, this is this girl's strong point!!!

i like that first blue face in the last dump, but the nose is kinda off, no offense or anything...

lovely work. as for looser lines in the gestures i tend to try to hold my pencil in a variety of fashions. cant really explain them but think of it as breaking your wrist and drawing with your arm.

    anyway keep it up!

Yina, you are doing REALLY well for yourself, this latest work looks really sharp, and tons of it too.

Keep doing what your doing, i don't have any tips at the moment and please keep posting!

great updates! The gouache paint is very nice.

the perspective drawings are great too. Only the potted trees look a little off. The elipses of the pots are pretty much the same size, though the vanishing lines should widen noticebly that close to the picture plane. The curb passes through the elipses' center points right?

    Keep up the good updates!

    nice!

that painting looks sweet. I dont understand why u wanna re-do it....i mean, think of all the paint u used on that?

ur colours are great: harmonised balance of warm and cool colours, and I'm pretty sure that painting looks much better in the face. only problem i have, is that the theme for this is "mystical butterfiles" or something like that, so i think the butterflies should be the focus. In my opinioin, the fairy is taking the focus away.

I feel ashamed to be so far behind my schoolmate. ow.

*on second looks, the fairy IS a butterfly. oh well. ignore what i said previously, other than this being a great painting.*

    Lightbulb Just Wonderful

    OMG Yina you are incredible!

I always try to find something to suggest to someone by way of improvement but after looking through your thread I see I have found someone whos work I need not only to admire, but to study and learn from.

Absolutely Wonderful. I think the digital stuff is especially strong, but dont let that make you think there's anything wrong with any of the rest.

    Very Cool Indeed!

    Be Well!

    Yina,

I dunno why I haven't dropped by before. Let me say it is really great to see your improvement. You seem to have a good eye for color (your color choices for that vector drawing are great), your ref paintings are looking real good, and great job on your perspective drawings. Keep on sketching!

painting is tunring out very well.

the one blue tree in the middle back is stealing alot of attention though. its much too contrasty to the yellow backglow compared to the trees around it.

    cheers!
