Some gesture drawing, 20 seconds each, I've been out of practice. And a bad cityscape. I'm clueless when it comes to drawing buildings, so putting that on the never-ending list of things to learn.

Watched Zhang Lu's 1st portrait vid under the recommendation of Trailblazer. Watching him paint is simply amazing. Did some photostudies of heads, the first one in Painter, been a long time since I used that program and was pretty lost. Also, a sad SHIELD agent who realizes his riot gear is just catcher pads ("photostudy").

I also used to be kind of nervous when drawing in public spaces. It might help to draw in a crowded place and pick a subject that's far away from you. Take quick glances if you don't want them to notice you and try to train your visual memory. Make every second count en record as much information as possible with every glance. Or just start with drawing the objects instead of the people.

In the end (at least for me) I found out there isn't anything to be nervous about. Most people are very curious and like to see others create stuff, it's like magic to them. When someone does gets upset over you drawing them, you can always apologize and offer them the drawing as a present.

Keep the updates coming. Those small gestures seem like awesome practise. I like the first portrait from your last post, but his right eye (on our left) seems too wide. His expression still rocks though.

Kapri Thanks for the tips on drawing in public! Gonna try and put them to good use when I go out tomorrow...

Some photo studies. Also a bunch of heads from imagination, 2 min. each. That was hard but I felt I learned from it, started seeing what works and what doesn't when trying to get a face to read quickly. Will do more.

Super-Skrull and some sketches from a coffee shop. A lot less nervous drawing in public this time and met a couple cool locals as well.

Hey nice stuff you got going browntear. Looks like you've come a long way in a short time, you've blown right past me that's for sure. Glad you enjoyed the Zhang Lu vids, they really are worth every penny. Keep up the good work man, I'll try and stop by more regularly.

So many things still to learn, which this makes obvious, but had fun working on/learning from it.

I'd like to see you play around with colours a little more.
Gimme' saturation, variation and all the rest.
The paintings itself are starting to become better....do more (and upload the best)

shockowaffel Thanks for stopping by and for the advice! I'll paint some more and not be so scared of saturation and see if I can add more variety.

Couple studies. Took shockowaffel's advice and although the color is all over the place, I am happier with this head than my previous washed out one. Will keep trying. Also tried some Sentinels for fun, just watched Avengers (awesome) and had to draw something Marvel related.

Not_Deadman Thanks! Some weeks I feel like I'm moving backwards so nice to know some overall progress can be seen

Trailblazer Glad you like the sketchbook pages, it was fun I was jumping back and forth between pages wherever I wanted. Kind of freeing though it does defeat the purpose of seeing progress from beginning to end.

Some stuff from this past week, photostudies and a couple fun things I tried including a DSG. Bought a new monitor this weekend! Didn't realize mine was so dim (until I tried playing Diablo 3 on it ), the new one is so much easier on my eyes now.

Hey, nice stuff going on here.
The water up there looks quite painterly. It's really nice.
The faces have a nice flair to them as well.
Definetely keep it up, but watch your proportions here and there.

shockowaffel Thanks for the kind words. I'll pay more attention to proportions.

Some odds and ends from the week, didn't draw as much as I should have, looking forward to starting a new week (and month for that matter).

Trying to understand values a little more with a few photostudies. Felt like it started to pay off a little with the last one from imagination, really enjoyed doing that one, didn't even notice time passing.

Photostudy that became a giant angel (ugh spent a lot of time on it, 4 hours). Feel like I'm slowly learning about how values work. Also, started going through the Feng Zhu youtube vids, really enjoying them and I try and watch at least one a day while at work.

Miss.BonBon Thanks, the sketchbook was fun, I'm looking forward to doing more like that. Glad you like the pencils, I want to make 'em cleaner.

Haven't done any studies for over a week. Been pretty frustrated and it's easy to not deal with it by playing diablo 3 or watching the nba finals or netflix. I think part of the frustration is trying to work on more stuff from imagination, the lack of skills becomes sooooo apparent. But now trying to get back on track with studies.

A giant spaceship I was working on from imagination. A WIP will play with it some more, but not sure much will change and I'm already looking forward to moving on...

Felt a little lost with the ship so moved on. Tried an environment from imagination and lastly looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man.
