I'm really digging the pencil figure studies! I see improvement in all your work since the first post. The girl in post #27 is really nice in terms of flesh tones and depth, the face is good but there is definitely something that doesn't look quite right to me. I think the face has more contrast and darker darks than the rest of the body. I really like the softness of the body though! Impressive work.

Beautiful job on you latest portrait! I would suggest adding some lost edges on the right side of the forehead (her left), the transition is a little harsh. Also maybe brighten up the eyes a little. Keep up the good work!

the last update on the previous page is wonderful!
You've already gotten better at his but judging from your entire sketchbook you should work on your values some more.
You tend to shade every part of your picture with very similar and limited values, flattening down the picture. You should try to use more extreme value ranges to create more depth.
    Hope that helps :>

@Rustveld: Thanks for the advice, I'll look into them, see if it freshens things up

@Zesiul: Thanks I used this work as initial inspiration: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I-ETQv8u7F...0/sb+megan.jpg
And continued on from there myself.

@Xelar: Very much so! I already saved some images from conceptart to remind me of what you just told me, it's really something I should focus on to improve indeed.
I try to keep these 2 images in my mind the whole time from now on:

    http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...1&d=1321072603
At least, I suppose that is what you mean?

nice man! really good form in those torso studies. my only recommendation would be to nail down the proportions and drawing in some of the portraits. check out ron lemen's videos if you can. anyway keep up the good work

Thanks! I looked him up on YouTube, expect sketches soon

Apparently I forgot to post this. I did this for a Valentines poster. The original painting is from Bougeureau, however I used Norke's version for reference too. This one took really a lot of time, about 25 hours I would say, I stopped counting :p

thanks for dropping by my SB!

Looking at your own work, i can certainly say that I envy your handle of colour. I always struggle with it, i'm ok with grayscale but once I throw colour in the mix I fall apart >.<

Nonetheless from a critical point of view I can say that a lot of your studies are great! (especially some of those anatomical studies) but something feels off about a few, mainly its an edge that looks off here, or a form that doesn't sit quite right. (For example the 20 minute study in post #42 has a very weird set of eyes) Nonetheless its all I can really say since most of your work is above my current ability.

However the Bougereau is awesome (though I feel weird about how the foot of the angel-boy is "standing" but if you were loyal to the original than thats how it was painted

I'm especially in love with the latest post, with what pen did you sketch those? Send me a PM with the brand name please! The look is fantastic and would love to get my hands on them!

Thanks, and once again cheers for dropping by!

Your welcome and thanks for the advice. I definitely need to improve on the faces. The little differences in there are always so important, guess that's what makes it so hard :p
And I'll send you a PM

I'm really liking the bridgeman studies you've got there, you have a nice style with that pencil.

Your digital stuff is showing improvement as well. cool stuff.

Nice SB, quite differs in style, but who cares ? ^^
Nice variety of issues. Typo, cute stuff, anatomy and other sketches.

You seem to have some problems, constructing faces, time to time.
I'm not really good at it either. Maybe defining your own rules for "how to construct a face" could help. You know, the usual rough rules for proportions or positioning in a face. Most of your faces look really good though.

    Thanks both!
That might not be a bad idea shockowaffel, I don't have any rules considering constructing faces, I just start :p

Another Zhanglu channeling, think this one came out a lot better

I don't know why, but when I look at that last portrait it seems like she should have more hair at the top rear of her scalp, maybe it's just an optical illusion. But it looks pretty cool either way. Definitely seening some zhanglu influence.

Figured I needed to do something with colors again. Inspired by one (of many) great sketch of Charlie Bowater, I started this. In progress.

    Hey dude,

sure you want to continue a career in law? Your drawings look great!
Granted, some anatomy issues here and there, but that can be fixed by studying.
Very nice coloring skills, those little angels look particularly nice. Or awesome.
    Keep it up, H.

Thanks H. Not sure if I want a career in law, however I started it before I started drawing. I'll for sure finish it, and from there on, I'll see what time brings me
And yeah, anatomy is a constant thing that is always subject to practice

More doodle stuff. Silly dog :p
