Loving your stuff! Keep it up!!
I'm a peacock, you gotta let me fly!
I did a few material studies from different robots and such, just trying to get use to painting that sort of non reflective metal, also the reflective kind. All kinds really. And a movie study from a nice shot of Real Steel! Plus an updated version of one of the 2 guys I'll be rendering out! Wooooo
hey chris....see you went with the one i liked :b not sure if you are going to do a metallic look or go for a matte plastic look? alot of the areas look like they would be matte or rubber, if thats the case make sure you study it up, it tends to be a lot of gradient shading for rubber but it can be tricky, anyways i like the design so good luck!
@Kevin_ Oh yeah big time, I'm making sure to spend awhile on these.
Here is the finished first robot dude. He was my favorite of the 6 original designs, and I'm pretty happy with how he came out! Woo, my first robot design like ever!
the materials on the robo doods look great man! however you seem to be having the same problem im having where you are neglecting the values. right now it looks like a bunch of separate parts have been cropped together, next time try and come up with a value scheme so its look whole. also watch the proportions :b those environments are just awesome, nice atmosphere in them! anyways hope that helps!
@Kevin Yeah about the materials, I did separate studies with the materials so later when I used that knowledge towards the final it didn't read well due to me not really understanding the lighting/material setup fully. I'm probably just overcomplicating things, but thats what stuck out to me too. You're dead on with the values. Also- I distorted the proportions on purpose. I know the measurements on like Bigg Red's arms aren't exactly parallel. But his forearm being so long is no mistake (If thats what you mean). Thanks for the honest words, they helped!
Ok, so more environments for everyone today. It's helping with shape and color, so boo ya!
Nice posts man, I really enjoy seeing the process you take to get to the finished image. I'm learning alot from this, so thanks for posting it all. Your BS 13 entry was cool, and I look forward to 14.
I haven't updated in awhile, thought I might wait until friday and just have a huge release, but seeing as I'm just starting the final piece I may as well show off all the studies I did to get to it!
Including my final character design, a fun sketch of human to lion, and some lion heads.
BS15 Studies, some different golem ideas, then I finally went with a wolf. And now it's a zombie/ghost wolf that use to belong to a warrior who died in the final battle of a war. I'll post some more sketches of the actual warrior later.
