    Aquila' sketch-journal

I think that I had better hang out in this section of this lovely site for awhile. I'm 22 (feels weird saying that) and studying painting and drawing.
Hopefully I'll make as much work as possible with a journal.

Anyway! A couple of things to get this train rolling:
Sketch of the cover of Lifestyle Illustration of the 60s, a wonderful collection that I recommend picking up (and possibly even looking through it after that!)

    And the original

And the start of a painting of Diane Birch, using the cover photon on her album "Bible Belt".

    Hi Aquila,

It is nice to see you beginning your journey as an artist! What type of art do you want to eventually do? (aka, your "dream job"). I ask because I would like to give more feedback to anything that can help you become the artist you desire to be.

Keep the studies coming! Hope to see you update again soon.

Right now, I'd have to say being in a gallery would be pretty great. Or maybe illustration type work.

Nothing really "new," just recent, figure I should fill this up a bit more. None of them are particularly finished.
I did get to spend a wonderfully day at the National Gallery in D.C. though. Picked up a nice book and a few posters too.

A couple of short paintings using Pierre Bonnard as inspiration:

And a collage project, where we had to make a collage, and then paint it.

Some scissors, watercolor paper, and acrylic ink:

And the big baby, with acrylic inks and paints for the blacks and reds, oils for the figure. This thing is 56" x 48" if I remember right, it got pretty suffocating at times:
