    Sev's Sketchbook

    Hello thar

Well this website isn't new to me, but after seeing lots of sketchbooks from mates, I decided to join too. I'm looking for critique and feedback, which I (sadly) miss on deviantArt...
Digital drawing isn't new to me, but I started just earlier this year to draw active, finally start practising and got used to photoshop and corel painter. My very first media was traditiona only, but now ... I'm addicted to digital drawing haha))
Got told that I need to draw more landscapes, fullbody/anatomy, animals, and all that and it's never bad to have a sketchbook, so here it is))

Comments and critiques are very welcome!

    Thanks

    Sev)

hmm, marvelous work on the bird. *jaw drops*

On the other sketches, it all looks abit too soft. try doing brushstrokes with strong colors to contrast the shading. That way you can get the shape out clearer and everything will look crispier. Cramp up that opacity

Your work seems to fluctuate in quality, try to spend more time on the paintings so that the quality becomes more equal. I have the issue of wanting to wrap things up and not actually spending enough time.

i need to draw landscapes, too. You just reminded me. urgh /:

Wow, that falcon (I think? I don't know my birds, sorry ;-;) is gorgeous!
    Welcome to the sketchbooks! :)

There's not a lot to be giving suggestions or critiques from quite yet, of course, but I'd say my initial reaction when looking at your stuff is a bit of concern for your color palettes (don't use black and white to shade--light is colored!) and compositions (experiment a little more with ideas before going into a final?). Still, you have some interesting concepts, and again, the bird is pretty epic. Keep posting!

Thanks JesseM for your comment and welcome!

Glad you like the birdy but I'm going to work on the issues you pointed out.
Not going to lie, ... I'm still used to the plain white lightning from drawing with pencil, really have to change that habbit.
    Thanks for your feedback!!

The last recent sketches - after that, new stuff will follow))

#1: The Dodo seems to remind people of 'disney' stuff,

#2: left is the very first sketch and right is the finished version, there is still something that bothers me, but I got no feedback, maybe someone can critique it. Fullview

Strange enough that I just see this comment now.. wow. I'm blind.

Heh, yeah I really have to spend more time on them, ... sometimes I rush and just want to fnish, another big habbit I have. Going to try the contrast stroke you mentioned. Crispier sounds good to me.

Well thanks a bunch for your feedback LoudLikeNature, I surely need that kick in my ass.

    Cow

    np!

about the sketch. The guy's hair highlight compete with the skin lighting. the lighting on the skin is also extremely soft, and kind of leathery. i can see that it needs to be textured so it feels like skin. Otherwise it's overall great, its just kind of that part that knocks down the quality a few pegs. Its really realistically and beautiful, its just those things that make it a bit jarring.
