Perdido Street Station (unofficial) and other stuff!
Hai guise!
I'm pretty nervous about posting in this section finally, but I figure it's gotta happen sometime... I just wrapped up a fun project where I wanted to do some vis-dev for China Mieville's wonderfully imaginative and very bizarre novel, "Perdido Street Station." I should note, these designs aren't so literal for those who have read the book- I just drew what I felt and saw while reading
Thanks everyone for looking!
There are lots of development sketches on my blog, if you'd like to see them and more work, please check it out!

EDIT: I'm used to 1920x1080 res, I realize some people have smaller resolutions, so I made a bit easier viewing.

Here are some more finished pieces from earlier this year that are unrelated to the Perdido Street Station project!

(This was a "redesign" project of Princess Mononoke, mixing it with 1500's colonial America... aka "Pocahontas x Mononoke")

I love all of them but especially the characters have textures and colors that are really soothing to the eye. Amazing! I think your style has some twist, making it quite unique..
5 stars!

Love it! I just finished the book myself and have been thinking that there isn't enough art for it out there...

You brought beautiful life to some great characters. Stunning work through and through, I noticed your work deals with a lot of solid primary colors, mainly yellow. It's nice it really sells your gallery as a whole.

Nice, You got some intense stuff here!
I really, really like the very first one of the Isaac character.

I really liked these, especially Lin, and I like the general look and feel. I immediately ran out out and linked it to friends. However, one friend pointed out that Isaac is actually dark-skinned, a fact I'd forgotten (and had to look up to verify). I was gonna ask if you would be interested in revisiting it, and then I checked your blog and saw that you had become aware of the fact and would change it if you revisit it. Which I think would be great.

Awesome stuff! I love Perdido Street Station, although the ending is really depressing. I believe Isaac is described in the book as being heavier, and a bit more unkempt. I respect what you did though, and the period clothes look really great. The painting of New Crobuzon is really cool. It would benefit from showing the giant bones that are at the top of the city though.
Your other work is really great. I love the colors and the redesigns for the Mononoke/Pocahantis thing.

What is it with some people? Have you actually read the book, especially paying attention to Isaac?
Still, if I want my scullery whitewashed with extreme artistry I'll know who to call.
