I'll check out Art and Fear. I read "The Courage to Create" some years ago, which was good. What was funny about it though, was that the author kept saying something like: "For instance, if you keep telling yourself; 'my mother hated me,' then it will transfer into your art..." But he kept bringing that up throughout the entire book.

No, it's okay. She isn't reading this anyways.

I don't think she understands how ignore works on the forums. Then again her crazy is showing and she needs to work on that.

I read it today. It's already got me not worrying so much about whether I go wrong. And if I do worry, it's healthy worrying that just makes me draw more.

Seems to me like her crazy is always showing. Isn't she a self-proclaimed satanic occultist?

You mean Objectivist. But I can see how the two can be confused.

On a somewhat related subject, I haven't read Art and Fear (yet, I'm going to) but I found this video useful a couple of months ago to get rid of the stress that makes me procrastinate. Art, like everything else in this world, is a mind game. Get your head in the right place, and you can do anything.

    Actually. . .

(from my previous dust ups, Naomi does, in fact, worship the Dark Lord, for whatever reason. . . ).

But, per Droid, Art & Fear IS a damn good prescription for the problem of procrastination.

Re the unfortunate subject: I'm assuming this may have been a suicide. But, is there any confirmation on this? (I remember reading about this in the online version of the Seattle Times when the disappearance happened. . . )

    Oh.

Well, that explains... absolutely nothing, actually. How do you reconcile objective reality with mystical bullshit? Satanism at least seems internally consistent.

    Edit:
Regarding Art and Fear: I think most artists come to much the same conclusions as the ones you can read about in Art and Fear whether they've read the book or not. Art and research are explorative in nature and if you become an explorer or are the sort of person who enjoys exploration you just kinda come to terms with the fact that most of the time you're not going to find what you expect. It's just that most people come equipped for a straightforward walk to the store and don't take it too well when they end up on a mule in Patagonia. Once you get the idea that you're not getting there anytime soon or in a predictable manner you either quit or relax.

My book has highlighted (at least, underlined with blue pen) places too. Reading this entire thread makes me wonder about the previous owner.

You know, with this thing called 'curiosity'. :v

The following illustrates one of the ferries of the type involved in the woman's disappearance-- and is one of my favorite scenes from The Ring-- though, it involves a horse and Naomi Watts. . .
