    Chris Rallis portfolio/website

    Hello!
My name is Chris. I've been working as a freelance illustrator for many years with advertising agencies in my country, but I just wanted something more creative. Or should I say, something that I can use my imagination. So I decided to make a turn and I really hope I could break into the fantasy publishing/gaming industry.
I am self-taught and my goal is to develop and improve my skills in order to be a pro in this industry, but mainly master my art.
I am looking for input on the things that will allow me to reach my goals above and would appreciate any assistance.

    Best regards!
    Chris Rallis

Wow very cool! That witch is especially good and the detailing on the dragon is awesome. The only thing I would say is you should mix in some hard edges too as it looks like you're very keen on the soft brush

really awesome work here; if you cant make it, we're all scrwwd. you are indeed a little too keen on that soft-brush for light. also, I'm kind of opposed to your rather over-complicated scening. I really like that cut-out showing the details on the dragon. then when I see the whole picture, im a bit like 'what, thats it?'. maybe make a thumbnail before you start and go for interesting cut-off instead of theatrical set ups. also, on you site, I'd advise agains putting new work first. right now, either the dragon, or your t-rex is your best work- in my view. show those first.

Thank you guys! I really appreciate your positive comments!

Obacmar Thanks mate! You're too kind!

GEB You're 100% right with the soft brush thing! Just to inform you, it's been a couple of days since I deleted it once and for all. Felt good!

ashess I'm just scratching the surface. There are so many talented people in here! I promise I'll get better though! The dragon image was started a year ago, left aside and finished last August. Since then I've learned so many things in here that even I ask myself: "What, that's it?" whenever I see this image. I'm a quick learner though.

    Cheers!
    Chris

These are beautiful! The Oracle is my favorite.

Even though I'm no where near your skill level, I was going to the suggest the same thing as GEB about using the hard brush sometimes...it will give your work a less airbrushed quality.

Wow, your works are beautiful !

Any chance for uploading dragon encounter in bigger size? Looks like its very detailed painting, but picture size is to small to see them. My first reaction was like - where's magnifier? I need to zoom these in, because i'm missing a lot of goodies there!

    Hi guys,

    Long time no see!
It's been quite a while since my last post. Many things have changed the past 2-3 years. I was lucky enough to have a break into the industry and I had the chance to work on some cool projects. Anyway, here's my latest artwork. Enjoy!

wow that's some awesome improvement. great stuff! my only critique, is that i still get that weird unnatural disconnected feeling that seems to plague the realm of digital art, and from trying to get it out of my art i have figured out that it comes from 2 things. 1: too many locked layers not allowing colors from objects to bleed into one another and 2: a lack of understanding of real lighting caused by only studying photos and not the world outside.
