    Exclamation Exphrasis' sketchbook

    Hey guys !

I've been posting in the 'it's finally finished ' gallery for a couple of years now, but I wasn't really updating it due to the lack of feedback.

Some artworks in here will be really sketchy ( thumbnails, traditional sketches...) while some others will be a bit more finished.

With time I learnt that it is far more interesting to post more stuff, and less ' finished ' art, so I can post on an every day basis and get more feedback, and progress.

I have no idea why I didn't do that before but hey, better late than never !

I'll also post some 3D stuff here, if that's ok, since I like to experiment and try mixing medias from time to time.

Heres some stuff I worked on this morning :

Let's hope I'll keep this sketchbook up to date !

cool! The creepy dude's teeth look a bit out of place in terms of value and rendering style. This last one with the restaurant is great! I love how the colors are playing together.

    Thanks EricElwell !

speed painting done at school, for a speed painting workshop I created recently

It was a great idea...A lot of people are motivated and we meet twice a week to share ideas, theory and general knowledge linked to speedpainting and creative images in general.

    Hope you like it !

Hey man, most of your works are looking good and especially those environments show big promise. My only critique would be that some of them lack depth and space a bit.

    keep it up

Nice studies mate. Maybe sometimes you mess values a little bit with too much blacks (in my opinion), but in overall - keep'em coming, especially imaginary stuff.

    Thanks Mila !
Glad to see all this work is paying a bit.

    DabeGarcia, thanks !
I study perspective with simple cubes in perspective in my sketchbook , like the one at the top here > http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/1745/planche4copy.jpg

For scenery it's a mixture of studying from pictures
    ( like this one : http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...is-d4fzudc.jpg )
, watching a lot of artworks that I like and try to understand why they work so well, and also a lot of thumbnail work, with simple compositions and themes.
I don't really detail them as you can see, it's more to get a general idea.
This way you don't get lost in details and learn how to really lay down the bases and the essential of a landscapes pretty quickly.

    Cheers

Wow, you do a good job on color/ color distribution of the piece. Good on focus of points of detail too.
