Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Been lurking around the site for a while and love what you guys do. With hard work i hope i can get closer to the quality on display, this is the journey so far.
Beginner sketchbook so prepare for a wall of white. Sunglasses on? Ok go
A few older sketches from before i started practicing hope I resized them properly
these were from the same sketchpad but all photographic
Loomis heads, and i think the other head style was from Michael Hampton's book. The body construction ive been practicing certainly is.
The lined book was one i used to take into work and draw in on my breaks so people wouldn't notice, sorry about that. I take a normal sketchbook now and deal with it
I really like the ones of photographic reference
May I recommend using a darker pencil or perhaps editing the images slightly so your drawings stand out more? Right now, they're quite light to see in their fullness!
mostly constructs, a couple of photographic ones in there too
For a fun game guess which! j/k not that hard
Thanks Meysha Yeah i realized that after i scanned them in. Tried to change up the settings to increase contrast but it didn't improve it very much. I might try using my camera instead of the scanner as an experiment for the next time i post up (going to have to for the A3's anyhow)
Current sketchbook, no 2 and 4 were my takes on a couple of the chow's. mech pilot and queen of seren. Ok so i was also playing deus ex at the time yah
Passed through gimp to darken them a bit
One more for tonight
Was meant to be a girl on a tv show i was watching, i messed around with here mouth too much and couldnt erase the shadows so she ended up with a moustache.
Friend at work tells me she looks like brad pit (hey at least she's still hot ).
You be the judge
This was my second gimp piece (of a mighty three). Bit more of a work process in play here, i made this in response to a seventh sanctum contest.
I included the last drawing because that was what i intended to colourize as a final to submit but i got the submission date mixed up and didnt get it done. It represents the end of my train of thought at the time.
Ok after my first spartan camp link and some feedback (especial thanks to LittleMaiden for putting me onto Lulppu) here are some gestures.
Playing with the idea of using the side of the pencil underhanded so ive doubled up on each pose. Also i numbered them after id finished, missed a page and had to improvise numbers
I like that girl's face up there. Her lips were done very well! It's good to see your practicing face variation early since it can be a hard habit to break later. Are you using reference for your character's clothes? The hem (I think that's what it's called) Of the koala's robe could use a bit seeing as there is nothing really keeping it closed like that.
Thanks Cranac i like faces there fun to draw though i find its hard to make them feminine.
I didnt use any reference for the clothes on the koala. I think i was intending to give him a brooch to hold that bit up then didnt have time to design one, that whole series was under time constraints to try and push myself a bit.
Ive not updated for quite a while should have put up spartan camp stuff here as well i guess I let that slide too but here i am again, nothing deep i just got lazy over the silly season. Dont feel like posting over there yet so the work i had done this week im putting here.
Bunch of random stuff i drew while at work this week. Finding it so hard to get started once i get home these days but while im at work i just want to draw.
Procrastination habits back in force im afraid /sigh.
Have been lazy got caught up in other things! Worthwhile but i did let this slide. Im not going to upload the gestures i put out into spartan camp anymore but i will try to remember to get other things up in here as a record.
First are from life, last two are from pictures.
Didnt get around to scanning this stuff in last week.
First one was a refresher since i haven't done many figures lately and was off to live drawing in the afternoon. The last two groups are all from life that night, same model, warmups to longer poses.
This weeks work, all these are from photographs onto an A5 sketchbook. Felt like I had a eureka moment with the girl on the lefts hair so I continued on with portraits.
Eyes are giving me trouble, cant seem to get left and right to look the same. Mby i should give more space for each portrait i do like this small size experiment though.
