I like it here. I'm taking over this forum.

It might take some time, thou.

The second lady on top is indeed very masculine..

Skeletorrrr: (Skeletor created and owned by Mattel)
Hey, "Skeletor, self proclaimed Overload of Evil, is the sworn enemy of He-Man. Skeletor is the embodiment of evil. His own corruption is what turned him into his present form" (comicvine dot com) so there.EEEVIIIL!

My current level of rendering/drawing/painting in Ps CS4 with Intuos4, no manipulations, photo textures or tracings used (only default Adobe pattern on the black patches of the space suit. that isn't visible anyway>>) Unhappy with: skin, format and composition. Inspiration: Serge Birault aka PapaNinja (& his superepic tutorial for tentacles)

Hey, happy viewing everyone! Don't be afraid to comment. It will be greatly appreciated. I'll update the thread no less than once a week. And when I get a decent skanner I'll update EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. You have been warned.

Am I posting this right? Hmmm. Some anatomy studies from "Human anatomy for artists" by Andras Szunyoghy and Dr. Gyorgy Feher and studies from photo references.

Paintings are admittedly from 2 months ago but I'm posting them anyway and this is the last time I'm posting something that is not very recent. Sorry. Master study after J.S.Sargent: Repose and a B/W female portrait from imagination.

    Onwards and upwards!

I hope I can get some color studies done today as well...And everything else...I have to work now thou.

Okay, that first figure with muscles? Yeah, I just barely woke up when I started to draw it. Imma redraw it. One can't really tell what or where those muscles are/begin/end...

Hey, guys thanks for dropping by! I didn't realize just how cool it is to be welcomed by members, until you wrote it. Thank you.

in2eternity: Thanks, I am definitely very interested in keeping it up Dissapointing myself is out of the question, hehe.

gurzy: Thanks, man. I was somewhat reserved when posting them since they're not recent, but hey. There will be more to come and all will be well and forgiven

So still no new color studies.. I have no excuses to offer. Studies from anatomy book and 30 sec gestures from pixelovely dot com/gesture/figuredrawing

Very good start, the figures look at little stiff. Try some gestural figure sketches to loosen up a bit. But everything looks good so far, keep posting

ji-li: Thanks, and right back at ya

Eric: Hey, that was so spot on. They indeed look stiff. I used references from The drawing tool (link in the post above). I don't feel comfortable drawing stick figures (no body mass) so I'll try drawing 1 or 2 min gestures and see if that helps. Thanks for your comment.

Well, today I mainly just read perspective theory and drew elipses and circles. And cubes. Oh and some straight perpendicular and parallel lines. I cooked late lunch. Yep. I'm only posting bones. From our lunch. Not a lot to chew on, I know.
I'm submitting the second attachment to show you what the other reason for not posting more pages is. A mess. I tried to draw in the muscles, Oh boy. Yeah, then I used it to write a list of books covering string and quantum theory. THEN I used it as a pad for my coffe and some hours later for tea. It was a very good tea.

Upper left is a quick portrait study of a digital painting drawn/owned by Bao Pham, Tempered. I love his portraits.

    Okay, I give. I suck.

I know that the first portrait is off, You guys can tell me about any serious issues with other three.

    Cheers.

Great stuff all round! My only remark is on those last portraits they look way too airbrushed. Try using a hard round brush a bit more to mark actual hard edges and avoid the muddy/blurry look.
Other than that, top notch, just keep on doing what you're doing and you'll go pro in no time.

Helio: thanks man. I'm glad you like it. Means a lot coming from you. And yes, those sketches look horrible. I hope I can get around to some color studies today and I'll make sure not to touch the airbrush untill absolutely necessary, just to get over myself.

Here's one portrait study, hope it looks better.

Strange week. From grieving to celebrating to moving.
Let's just draw now, shall we?

I hope noone looks at my anatomy studies for reference. I find that I have a tendency to draw everything wider than it actually is when drawing from observation. Can't seem to shake this horrible tendency off. Humerus is a perfect example. Just wow, right?

Clavicle and humerus. Heh. Clavicle. Hehehe. Cracks me up every time.

I saw people post references alongside their studies. Seems a smart thing to do if one isn't studying celebrities. Here. Without freckles. Still figuring those out.

    Hmm. Too wide?

    Too wide.

    Damnit.

Just sharing today's doodles and the one from the last post. They're all from my imagination, which, considering the old smirky guy, worries me just a tiny bit.

Something unoriginal for the approaching halloween as well. I call it "Sisters".

You know, when you spend half a day studying some poses or smth like that, being quite satisfied with yourself but completely forgetting to save at all in the process and then your laptop crashes? No? Yeah, me neither...

Imma finish that old dude. But first -> some pose studies >_>

Expelliarmus: Thank you, I really appreciate it!

I have been away from CA but not away from practicing. I'm in this strange phase where I seem to struggle with pure basics. So I gave in and am now going with the flow. I wake up, do 100ish 20-30 sec gestures, move on to head studies or drawing them from imagination or both.

So yeah. No amazing art to show off. But.

But I love every second of this frustration and learning things over and over again and practicing like there's no manana..Weird.

The last female portrait and charicatures are from imagination. I imagine I'll make a lot more crap before I'll produce some cool stuff.

    Later, dudes and dudettes.

(The plan on taking over this forum is still definitely on. Just gonna... take a while)

The wip based on a sketch I posted almost a month ago. Feels great coming back to it in the evening, do a stroke or two, deciding that maybe I should look at some reference, then go "naah" instead, do two more strokes and close the file. yep.

    awesome feeling.

There we go. An uptade. Busy with commissions that aren't illustration related. So I really enjoy having something silly to fiddle with from time to time.

So hi. I'm updating my sketchbook with just a tiny part of sketches and images I did for my first commission for character outfit design. It was pro bono. I really wanted the commission because I have no business experience. And in return I got tons of valuable info.

First we agreed on the look of the character and her design, then we decided on the style of the illustration just for the heck of it.Then I decided I'd do two versions. The client is by far the most patient person ever.

    WIP

It would be nice if I wasn't so frustrated and determined to make everything perfect...Since I don't even know the basics well enough yet.. I'd be faster, too.

Haha. I need a mentor. Slow progress (I am ashamed), also a pin-up for a friend, that I'll color sometimes this year. Haha. I'm slow.

Oh, just wow. The amount of work it took u to make that one outfit design o.O

    Me loves the final result!

You're amazing with feet! and with hands too.

Sorry, I'm not native, does pro bono means 4free?

ANtY93: Thank you, you are too kind Those hands and feet were nearly the death of me And I learned tons from it. I'm glad you like the design. It was meant to be recognizable in the same sense as Final fantasy characters. And yes I'm doing it for free.

Emm..Slow progress and some quick doodles, because I just had to. I have no idea what those last two creatures are meant to be.
