How do u swap lasso tool and polygonal lasso tool back and forth?

    Hi guys,

I stumbled upon this awesome korean concept artist; Pene Menn tutorials. And as i was watching the tutorial, i saw him swapping the lasso and the polygonal lasso tool back and forth as he selected the areas he want to color?

May I know whats the shortcut key in swapping this tool back and forth? I know the shortcut key to the lasso tool is "L" but i dun know whats the key in swapping them. If anyone of u know, pls tell me. I"ll be greatly thankful.

Skipped to 09:10 on the link to see what i meant

Hold the Alt (or Option on a Mac) key while using the regular lasso to make it polygonal. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it it's a great timesaver!

You can, alternatively, toggle between those by holding shift and pressing the hotkey. I think that will by default also include magnetic lasso so just go into shortcut manager, clear its hotkey and you will get a straight swap between regular and polygonal lasso.

Utilizing Alt functionality is still a better/quicker option, imo.

Hi! I didn´t manage to switch from lasso and poligonal using only ALT, I only deleted the poligonal shortcut..

Is that a feature from CS5?

    cya!

It should work fine if you've got the regular lasso selected to begin with, and not the polygonal. It's definitely not a CS5 feature, it's worked that way for ages!

You have to hold the alt key as your making your selection. You lasso tool will switch on the fly. If you're trying to switch tool after your selection is already completed, then you have to press Shift+L to cycle through.

This is great! Thanks a lot guys. I have always hated it that I have to go to the side of the screen to switch between round/ rectangular marquee tool or gradient tool/ Paint Bucket. Now I can just Hit SHIFT+M or SHIFT+G. Awesome, I think I don't need the sidebar now at all.

It's funny how you just get used to doing things the hard way.
