Hi Damien, I'm really enjoying your sketchbook so far. Keep up the head studies and maybe a few life drawings to keep working on your proportion, it's definitely paying off already! Looking forward to seeing more work.

Ebersol Thanks for dropping by. I really appreciate your words. I like your work

Derra Thank you. It's the comments that keep me working. Good or bad criticism always makes me want to continue working to improve.

Here's a little update, unfortunately not much as I am now back at work full time. So, I bought a new sketchbook to carry with me. The pencil work has been done during my 30 minute breaks at work. I forego my lunch to draw, ha. All drawn from observation...

Also an update on this weeks IDW....There's lots wrong with it. It looks a little skee-wif when I flip the canvas...I'm just going to render it anyway as I don't think I have time to correct it, but take it as a lesson learnt when I do my next...Just hoping I do find the time to render it...learnt quite a lot from this...

Page 3 I'm in too deep to give in now!!!

Just finished this up for this weeks IDW. I wish I had the time to dabble around with colour and spent some time correcting the parts that look odd. Like getting the armour to fit around the center line properly. If you know how I mean...

On the front view the chest piece looks sort of flat and does flow with the stance...When I flip the canvas it looks a little off in terms of shape and proportion. Also there are many inconsistencies throughout the design when comparing both views together. Well, I know what I mean...anyway.

The ideas there, but some things just don't quite work. Will keep this in mind for future works.

Enjoyed this though, and learnt some...

It's been crazy busy with my day job...hopefully things are starting to calm down now so I can get some painting in. Here's more to that portrait from earlier and a little graphic design?...for my friends metal project we've been working on...

    in2eternity Thank you so much

I've been on a bit of a downfall regarding art at the start of this year. Really not much study at all. I intend to try and do more...Sort of been going through the old "my god, I suck" mode. But there's only one way to not suck and we all know what that is. So, I fired up some Feng Zhu videos and watched to try and ignite the flame.

Fundamentals...perspective basics and exercises on becoming accurate drawing straight lines without a ruler. Concentrating on drawing with the whole arm and not the wrist...It works...but I need practice.

First ones in pen and marker/pencil. The last one was done in Corel Sketchpad, that I got with my intuos 4...love this little program, although when I export images as JPEG they seem to be a little blurry...any help with this would be appreciated.

    Here we go >>>

1 - A cube I studied from life in charcoal
2 - Photo of an acrylic painting I just finished today. It's on canvas a little larger than A4
3 - Scan of the same acrylic painting

Really enjoyed doing the acrylic, feel like I want to do more and get stuck in with some colour. I feel happy about this one. Thanks

Been somewhat out of it recently and has been too long since I updated...lots of things have happened. New job for a start...that has more routine to it. Which frees up all evenings and weekends for painting. I need to re kindle this appetite...

    ...not much here...but...have a banana

Glad you've come back! It's hilarious that we're both doing still lifes of bananas. Yours is looking great. Also, I really dig the skull in post 76. It has a lot of character and reminds me of the old pirate treasure maps and storybooks.

One thing to keep in mind with photo based perspective studies. You almost always get a little perspective distortion at the edges of a photo, but it can be especially bad for landscape or architecture shots when they use a wide angled lens.

rishenko Thanks for dropping by and for your input. It is always appreciated.

Got home today and fancied trying some lizards...trying to draw digitally is harder than pencils...but that's what I want to doo!

Here's the crummy sketches and some colour study...
