ooo, that flapper girl is looking awesome. I've watched about 12 hours of prohibition documentaries this month lol, so it's right up my alley!
Your line work is looking tight.
Your rendered stuff seems a bit vague compared to your line work - Scott Robertson has some amazing dvd's on rendering if you can get a hold of them.

Keep up all the hard work!

Thank you for the critique and reference! I am looking for more explanation on rendering (Struggling with Loomis), hopefully Scott Robertson's DVDs will work for me.

    Thank you!

Today was a very good day study wise. Got me a Scott Robertson DVD "basic drawing" and worked on some perspectives to understand planes better. Also did a speed paint/envi study. Hopefully we're back on the daily studies wagon

Great stuff! I love how you do faces, specially the females. And hair. The blond girl with the hair ornament in post #367 has gorgeous hair, I love her!

Shoulder to the wheel, my friend!

    Dina, thank you!

    teeheeteehee, hello and welcome!

Today's haul is kinda weak, I went to the gym and I don't feel like drawing much.

Good updates! I really like your speedpainting from last post. Nothing I could criticize... Lighting effects are always hard to paint, but you've done that very well.

Thanks! I think the overall mood went well (light and dark), but perspective is still hard to do in speedpaints.

The new sketches are nice, especially the gestures!

Btw.: thanks for recruiting me for the spartan group. 50 gestures in one week is quite a challenge

50 is the goal but it's not a must...Most of the time you just do what you can (or feel like).

The character sketch feels too stiff and constrained so I abandoned it and added it to the gesture collection instead of fleshing it out.

I call this one "color vomit"...the value here is not in the speedpaint itself but the fact that it's one less color study from the 10,000 paintings I have to do to become good at environments. baby steps.....sigh....

Dude these are great! Have you ever put your girl figures in a perspective background like those? It'll be awesome!

Your sketchbook is so great at showing what someone can draw in 1 day, just the volume of entries is crazy. I had a quick look though and maybe you'd benefit from going a bit crazy with color studies and experimentation. Keep it up this sketchbooks awesome.

You are a gifted character designer. I've really enjoyed looking through your sketchbook. I think I'll take deeper look through the Loomis books now that I've seen your work. Keep it up!
