very nice skills mate!!i think you are on the right track and you just have to keep up. You will have to often check what you learned from the studies by doing a lot of imagination work on the side (to constantly check your lacking )
    keep up the good work!!!

Cool man... you should be proud... kostas is following your book

You're using the Reilly Abstraction for both the head and figure; are you getting that from Michael Hampton's book? Looking solid, especially the heads.

    Like kostas says... keep up!

@kingkostas WOW! Thanks or your encouraging and constructive words, I will definitely take that onboard, and thank you for visiting /bow.

@p sage thanks for visiting mate, I find myself mixing everything from Loomis, Bridgman and Riley's method which I came across it while watching Ron Lemen's videos, I have a book by Doug Higgins but I am going to focus on Bridgman for now.

I like Bridgman as he allows me to have my own style when I follow his instructions as his doodles (although perfect) drives me wonkers hahaha!

    I don't have Michael Hampton's book unfortunately

    sweeeeeeeet

eh! i need to get back to some bridgman studies lol nice choice of pastel on toned paper on that last one. Looks really cool, the nose looks like its too much of a shape{outline}. Like make it blend with the part that is bone and not cartilage. But then again some lighting might give it that effect lol great job either way!

Thanks Joe777k7 yes the outline is bothering me as well, contemplated redoing it or do another one from scratch as I need more practice.

I am loving Bridgman its an awesome book, I have his "remade" Complete guide to drawing from life

I gotta do a few studies before I hit the sack lol! its 5 in the morning here no work tomorrow... (well it is already) so Ill be chilling and going to local Art Gallery/Center they have opened a few months ago and I have yet to set foot in it /SHAME!

Thanks ThomasM for your comments, love your monsters on your SB, great stuff /bow

I have been AWOL for a while although only from posting, but I have been visiting the forums everyday. I have been trying to re evaluate my direction in art and I have been spending a lot of time reading, watching documentaries about Art History and a lot of Massive Black DVDs and Streams.

My day job, which can be demanding sometimes has been trying to get in the way but I have dealt with it now with a good time management I have put in place.

Some uploads comming later on...Today or tomorrow evening after day job!

Seeing how poor my drawing is and my hunger for fast improvement I made a decision to get back to the basics.

I cannot afford College or a fee to join an Atelier and my day job will always interfere with my progress.

After going through the forums here on CA and the internet, reading History of art a recommendation to do the Charles Bargue plates kept popping up a lot.

I had no clue who this guy Charles Bargue was nor Jean Gerome until I watched Jason Manley's Colour Theory onDemand video Stream. Boy was my eyes OPENED!

So it happens the Local Museum (Cardiff, Wales) has a painting of Charles Bargue and it happens to be the same sketch that went on his book...WHAAAT!...Took a picture of it, my heart was pounding so fast hence the fuzziness of the image lol!

I continued to read up and gather a lot more information about this Bargue Drawing Course. A lot of Blogs and Websites have talked about the Plates and how important they have been and still are to this day.

So I am taking time to focus on doing the plates starting with Plate 1, I will as many as I can, but I am missing some instructions/text that comes with the book. Will have to buy the book once it is available as it is being republished I believe!

I truly believe that this exercise will help me improve and cut short my journey although shortcuts is not what I seek on this journey! I have also invested some money on Water Mixable Oil Paints (real oils kills my head and small space) and I am looking to get a set of cast sculptures so I can do some cast drawing.

I would appreciate every Critique and guidance I will receive from you guys. Thank you!

    Bargue drawings plate 1

Started plate 1 today, it looked easy but I must say it was very difficult for me and I have learned a lot from it.

    - Never use a very Soft Pencil! I used a B8 pencil
    - Bristol paper is better as some marks almost messed up the soft paper I was using
    - Space Space Space! I did not have enough space to move my arm as the drawing board I was using was too small.

Following the strokes seemed to work out for me, my hand kept shaking a lot I guess its the nervousness!

AAAANYHOOT! Here is the first plate, took me 6 hours, I hope the next will take less time.
