Here are some sketches. I think 1 is working the best...what do you guys think?
Also: hood or no hood? I thought the antlers looks very druid-ish

I am sorry for the CRAPPY quality of these....I just moved and my scanner is not hooked up yet!

Right now, I'm loving #2. Which may be because of the antlers, but I do also love the movement of the cat. Animals never pose perfectly when you want them to! The antlers are a great choice! I have no D&D experience, but I am quite familiar with Warcraft, and many of the Blizz druids are like decked out in antlers.

Sounds like a fun topic. I haven't settled on a creature/race yet so just idea sketches for now.

Here's an update of my progress... I'm starting to hate it and will probably end up scrapping it if I cannot get it looking how I wanted.

Tooooo much green. I forgot that with long red hair, a green outfit goes Poison-ivyish sooooo fast. uggh.

lissinator Looking good. Should vary your line weights a bit more, they seem to be a bit too uniform.

Rusty I love the expressiveness of his pose. Very neutral, but full of energy. Seems like it's his expression that makes me want to back off more than his axes.

Made the head bigger, and made the face a bit more like mine. The hairline and facial hair definitely takes away from my likeness, but most of the facial structure matches my own. I took a bit of extra liberty on the hair as well, to make it look extra gnomish. Gnomesque?

OK, did some rough sketches. Given my ambitions as a carpenter, I thought maybe a dwarf smith would be an appropriate concept, but the more I thought about it, the costume options seemed a bit restricted and uninspiring. So, I'm going instead with an elf mage; kind of an itinerant wizard, with well-worn clothing and gear well-suited to traveling.

    Awesome looking stuff everyone!

rayelian - brown/tan/ is a nice green alternative?

I'm going for a hybrid sorceress type thingy. I'm not too versed in traditional fantasy-esque type things, so the quiz lissinator found was super helpful Thoughts very welcome.

Shadow Correction, you are a battle cleric, which is much cooler

Rayelian Does not remind me of poison ivy at all.

khalo Hah yeah that is better. Aww so cute with ur little gnome stalkings and booties. I think the hair is great.

Here is me. I am only lvl 1 sorcerer apparently so my only spell is flashlight hand lol. And lvl 2 druid also. In case ur curious--I was holding one of those flood lights and I bought the cape and a little toy spear hehe. Cape=fantasy ftw!

Great stuff already on the second day. I guess people like self-portraits.
Here's my first WIP. I decided to go for shapeshifter illusion-wizard. Kinda fishy lookin' right now:

    chow 260

The token good guy fighter. Got surprisingly high charisma on my stats, which is nice I guess ^^
Will give this a try but unsure if I'll get time to complete as we're busy with zbrush atm in school.

~baxter: Like the concept! Especially the beartrap part :]
Khalo: I wish I could match your talents. Will have to work harder! Looks a wee bit front heavy though, but I might be wrong.
Aeronik: He almost looks like a member of "The Gorillaz". Cool and relaxed pose.
Migsta: You son of a.. Make us all look bad, well me at least :p
rayelian: Nice refrence and inspiration sources. I like that you showed where you got it all! Can't wait to see where you take it.
kitana mk: Adorable! Simple as that. I'm not too good at drawing faeries so I'll keep an eye out for your finished piece.
jsn: Great "quick" sketches! So much going on! Very detailed imo, nice.
lissinator: Oooh photorefs! That reminds me, I need to get a camera/cameraman/in shape (-_-') ^^ I fancied the 1# most and those eyes.. I need more practice.
THEMike: Loving that pose! Nonchalant and skilled at his craft. Sweet!
jolen: Great start, but poor beast Why not tame it instead? ;D The second one also looks nice, more detailed and a better pose imho.
Kalumis: GREAT linework! Looks truly serene and kind.
    Rusty: Frekkin ey! Awesome start!
fudoki: Go go satyrs! No horns though? What will you arm him with I wonder
SlowDaddie: Cutesy! Looks suitably heroic! The shield looks off though, might want to take a second go at it.
gtgauvin: The colors are great. Loving the hat too as well as the robe/vest thingy.
Drygrass: Ooh nice hair ;D She seems to lean a bit to the left though. I was going to suggest more clothes/robes but I think what she's got now really works.
Artfix: Woa.. Crazy good lighting effect on that one.
1305: Good start but it doesn't look "fantasy" enough imo. Maybe add some armor or long robes? But then again, a bit early to tell.
Staccato: The pose is great and the dog complements the image very well! A bit stubby legs though no? The dog I mean Oh wait.. just realized they might be standing in something, nvm! ^^
OfficialLamp: Aah nice! Very nice! It might be me but the nose looks a bit, nonexistant? ^^ Just two slits. But it looks cool!

Keep it up everyone! Some really nice stuff on here already!

did that quiz that everyone else is doing and somehow ended up with being a Chaotic Good Human Ranger with a brilliant constitution and absolutely no charm.
which is nice. particularly since most of my answers involved me being unfit, uncoordinated and partial to being inside. But I am ok at archery, so that's a bonus?

ANYWAY, I have no idea about rangers. There just seems to be a whole lot of cloak going on with them? I do need to add some actual detail to the design.
and pouches. Definitely needs lots of pouches.

    Yay...

I'm the hot tavern babe in Skyrim's dad, who happens to be part of the town council, a level 4 battle mage, and I just stepped in...

    GOTCHA!!

    Hehehehe... Gotta try this one.

Quick update! So I picked the relaxed easygoing pose, cause I'm pretty relaxed and easygoing ;p
Base the outfit on what I usually wear but might add some kind of leather/metal armor to make it propa' fantasy(!!!)

That dwarf looks nice! Just a wee beardling he is

Nice Ranger concepts! Definitely need tons of pouches and bags aye! ^^
