So here's the deal. I live in New Zealand and can't afford to move to another country and pay living costs on top of the art school costs, so I decided to try and find good online courses that will give me the same accreditation as actually attending the course on campus.
I want to get a Bachelors of the Fine Arts majoring in Illustration.
I have no previous art school experience and have no idea where to look.
So far I'm considering the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, if anyone has more information on them, that would be fantastic! They're the only art school so far that seems to provide the course online.
Really this thread has two questions.
1. What are some great online courses that when I finish, will leave me accredited and actually have a decent resume?
2. Is the Academy of Art University any good?
I responded to you, but since it's a pretty huge post, it is still going through moderators.
Art school isn't everything, but it does help on the resume. Experience matters the most. I heard that AAU online school's pretty okay, but I don't recommend it. It's not a strong school for art. But that's just what I heard from other people.
And avoid all AI franchises. They aren't good.
same interest here, am planning to apply to Academy of Art.
I heard they're quite good and not too expensive, so basically I want to know is Academy of Art University really worth it? Especially in Illustration major.
Thanks in advance,
I can't go into a good length response since the original one I made for Tonality (about 8 paragraphs worth lol) didn't ever show up. Neither did the 2nd to last one I posted..
But I will tell you though that AAU's Illustration major is certainly strong.
So you're interested in attending AAU. Do you intend on doing in person on campus or AAU Online program?
Provide me your email so I can send you the email i'm going tot write Tonality.
Provide me any questions you have that you want me to answer.
Btw: my email is : firstname.lastname@example.org

Since his reply still hasn't come up on this thread, I do recommend emailing him, he has some great advice and has actually experienced the whole situation.
Glad to have helped y'all Tonality and draktvin.
Keep those emails coming if you have more questions. Always glad to help my fellow artist out.
