Here's my initial idea, hopefully will menage to finish it on time...

    Questions:
Is it ok to put character inside the mech cockpit? Or if i got my character inside, than i need to draw full mech in the character sheet maybe?

Deadline is simply in the next Sunday?

Juki - looking good, see previous comment about proportions. Also your POV is from almost ground level, facing up. Mecha should be towering above her at the distance it is from her.

MJ Alcazar - lovely character Left hand might need a lil tweak. angle looks a lil off?

Leoneart - very cool. my take would be head of #1, armour of #5

baxter - dig the lines. clean & powerful. lets see the pilot now

aeronik - really like the feel of your pieces

invinciblewombat - cool POV. everything looking good so far. cool helm.

JanJager - + for originality my fave so far

Varmint - loads of story telling potential

Rayelian - love the middle one. costume really fits the character

    Mateja - very strong design!

    gadbury - excellent progress

drygrass - looking good. quite a unique feel

Joanafunart - good start - dig the tail

tsabu - strong character designs - simple & effective.

Aeronik- Loving your style, really hope you can get a final piece done! I like your take on this project:]
Leoneart- I love the make up style, would be interesting to see a similar design on her mecha I think:]
Drygrass- Thanks, thats encouraging to hear

Update on my progress so far. In the last ChoW I didnt really hit the spot with the brief. So I just want to check
how much this image is valid. She's repairing her mech, but there is not much evidence to say its a mech she is reparing.
Anyone have any ideas on what I could do to remedy this? Starting again is an option.

    re

Yeah, I did something similar. In this she's doing a preflight check on her mech. That's the idea anyway. It's pretty rough right now. Drawing some mechs in the far background might help.

i will more than likely not do anything else to this, but i threw it together in a half hour for the heck of it. Too much going on this week to finish though.

A very early sketch, and toying with the idea of a changed angle, this sketch doesn't show yet what it's going to have in "originality". I've got two options to go with in my mind that I think will make it look cool, but both require frickloads of work lol

This topic is awesome btw. Really awesome. And so was last weeks topic. Way to go

Artfix, I think most of the time, it's about taking human or animal anatomy, then adding layers on top that cover them. A bit like sticking lumps of clay to a mannequin.

    Just "Dirk" will do!

    These are looking amazing!
To clear up for a few people, you can show as much or as little of the mech as you like, as long as it's shown somewhere. The PILOT is the key character and she must adhere to the 3/4 rule!

    staccato it's lookin Japanese!
    MatejaPetkovic Awesome!, as usual!
RyNSWOrLD it seems like you're spending a lot of time on the small details first.? You can always add another layer below, and with bigger brushes experiment. Hopefully some happy mistakes will happen, as they do!
    varmint lookin very cool!
Narko cute lookin pilot. that pose doesn't look right, need to change her weight,...where is she leaning? looks like she's sittin on a bar stool.
Leoneart thanks very much! I think you've won already!!!...then again, needs more Japanese!
JanJager thanks very muchly! she's very cute, and lookin good!
Drygrass thanks heaps! lookin forward to an update!

    Will comment more soon!
Now trying to get her in the mood

    AdrianNagorski: sweet idea! love it!

Artfix: those are hot, looking forward to seeing yours!

so basically I'm making a paper crane mech and doing the girl inspired by modern japanese over the top aesthetic ... this is just a first blurt, now I'm going to look up what paper cranes actually look like!

thought id go back to sketching stuff out on paper first, its a bit slower, but i feel i get a grasp of ideas quicker than going straight in digitally, no idea why.
