So, how do you make a nice glow in Pshop?

I'm just curious as to how you go about making a nice glow around something in a picture. Like for instance I see on this site a lot of creatures and characters either shootin lasers or holding their fists with a nice glow around them. Do you know what I mean? Anyway, I'm looking to figure out how to do that.

    thanks in advance

it comes from tweaking the airbrush tool... it involves bluring and smudging as well as transparency changes.... yo

Actually, it depends on the material you're trying to add a glow around. If it's just a generic neon glow, your best bet is to create a new layer for the glow, switch it to Overlay and then draw your glow in a bright color it works fine as long as you're using the airbrush and the right layer properties...
