Well here they are. Good luck to everyone, there are some fantastic illustrations on here!
I feel great to be able take part in the first IOW challenge.
It seems we all had varying opinions on what elements the image displaying the rules should have, and I thought what better way to represent the challenge than to make an actual illustration. I always think of an illustration as not just showcasing design like CHOW and EOW, but the design in conjunction with the narration, where the subject and its environment interact. So maybe not all will agree that this is the best way to represent the rules for this challenge, but I'm standing by my decision.
Good luck everyone!
Hooray I made it!!! Super excited to participate in the first ever IOW! (Hope I did everything right )

Good luck to everyone
Great work guys.
Poll is up.
extremely tough choice! I voted for Dreoilin - very Rackham/Ibilin style, way too cool not to win.
however I thought gregnogs was awesome, as was zephyri and dunder ink!
sorry that I couldn't join in this one, just not enough time these past weeks. arg, would have been fun! see you next round!
Tough choices here, everyone did amazing jobs, and I wish I had more then one vote to give. I look forward to seeing who wins!
Critique always appreciated!
I really do wish i had noticed this was a multi-choice vote before i voted, so i only got the one vote in . A very tough choice, lots of really nice images, both technical and design wise. In the end my vote went to Dreoilin, two main reasons, 1- its neither children's illustration or adult illustration, it doesn't place itself in one particular field of illustration, much the same i presume IOW will also be. 2- The Art Nouveau style, whether its a banner or poster, it always looks nice, and for this particular project its very much suited.
i voted for Mr.Gadbury, nice storytelling going on there and nice atmosphere, although i don't like the type or the placing of the rules. but thats a great illustration!
i also voted for zephyri, i like the style...
i liked Dreoilins too, but it just looks nice and doesn't tell a story which is essential for a good illustration in my opinion...
still love it but it looks like you could've needed more time
amazing how it turned out
as someone else mentioned it doesn't really tell a story but I think it transports "creativity" really well
they got my votes
Great round round guys! Good start for IOW! Dreoilin and grenogs were stand out entries this round, they both got my vote because I can picture both of them sitting atop each topic! Mr Gadbury, rengin and zephyri had strong entries as well.
Grenogs: really liked the original idea, everything works well with exceptional rendering
Dreoilin: Glad you followed my advice, almost feels like I painted this, lol jk! But it looks great, crits would be to add some saturated colours to the girl, because she is looking a bit grey.
Great round all! Dreolin had my vote from the moment I saw her sketch, as a lover of that kind of illustration, but also gave a vote to S Rose just cause there was something delightfully naive about the illustration that reminds me of childhood.
And sevira, yeah.. combination of not enough time and no real clear idea of exactly what I wanted to do with it were my main downfalls!
This is awesome! I am so excited to have a new forum activity! A lot has happened since I last contributed! Well, I am definitely back. Nice work everyone as always. Voted for gregnogs - very simple and clever concept, well executed Dreolin - very beautiful art nouveau-esque style. Dunder Ink - nice composition, there's a lot of story there. Zephyri - Nice muted color palette, good traditional painterly style, and nice classical subject matter.
Thanks everyone! Can't wait for more. Love this forum and so happy it's growing!!
I know that I can...now I must DO
It's all about confidence. Just keep at it and you will prevail!
Bummer! So preoccupied with other stuff I totally forgot to enter my image in the finals thread. I wouldn't have stood a chance against some of the awesome work here though anyway. My personal favs are Dreolin and Zephyri.

dreolin and zephyris are my favourites, both super excellent. interesting how closely similar they are too, like pages from the same beautiful book. dreolin wins by a whisker for me.
actually i change my mind althoughi already voted, zephyris is my favourite, by a tiny margin. just more open. both are bewitching though.

Awesome first round everybody!! My votes went to:
grenogs- Loved this idea, and great job on all the details like the wooden textures and pencil shavings!
Rengin- I adore the pinup style, and I think it makes a nice banner
zephyri- It looks maybe a little unfinished, but I don't even care lol- I love it! The drawing is solid, and the watercolor look is gorgeous!
I wish I'd had time to participate, I did a few sketches but knew I wouldn't be able to do it justice in the time I had. Anyway, great start for a great challenge.
my votes went to:
Dreoilin - Because it's just awesome, love all that hair. can't. stop. looking.
Dunder Ink - Aw, so cute, love the layout and the branch antlers
Zephyri - Enchanting picture, I'm interested to know the story! The details are well thought out, like his chipped claws
