    Smallville is getting stupid now.

So, we've all heard of Smallville right? The tales of superman before he ever was? good.
well its currently in it's last series (10) and I haven't been bothered to watch it since series seven, I recently came back to it and realised that little to no parts of the story line are even remotely related to those of the previous series.
So far, you might just think this thread is a whine about a crappy T.V show, but you'd be wrong. This thread is a whine about all recent american television; the budgets are high so you'd think they'd employ some decent writers, yes? No. They prefer to blow it all on flashy effects and bad costumes. The stories move way too fast, there is no tension, in stead of: bad thing - worse thing - omg they cant fix it - wait, is that an opportunity? - fixed, yay! the story lines go more like this: Bad thing - LOL SORTED! I know that probably doesn't make any sense but if does, what are your thoughts?

Smallville had it's series finale this spring and I watched every episode. I enjoyed it a lot so I guess it's just preference. The numbers did go down from the first season but it still had a large fanbase.

In the first few seasons it was very open/ closed episodes with the meteor freaks getting found and beaten, But with a plot string running through. i think in season nine and especially ten, they tried to make a more intensive storyline and the majority of the episodes are based on seasonal plot. It doesn’t seem to work as well to me though.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Mad Men, Game of Thrones, and Louie really suck.

It's Superman's hometown. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smallville_%28DC_Comics%29 So the show is about Supe's teen years.

Also, shouldn`t this be in the Entertainment subforum? *nitpick*

Didn't see a lot of hype on Game of Thrones. Fantastic show. It did the book justice.

Depends where you are at. If by any chance you manage to swing by these parts of our global village, you`ll find an admireable assortiment of turkish soap operas for your enjoyment.
    Stereotypes FTW, you know.

So...yea...I guess I`m better off with Ginger and Pam!

    Smallville is getting stupid now.

There's some great TV around at the moment, both US and UK shows. Seek and you shall find. Anyway, why are you watching TV when there's a blank piece of paper and a sharp pencil left in the world?

Smallville was always pretty bleh if you ask me. And thanks to the fact my first college roommate was a huge fan of it, I've seen quite alot of the show.

But I just don't like the premise in the first place.

In my mind, Superman is and always will be this.

    Or this.

    Smallville is getting stupid now.

As the granddaddy of the modern superhero, Superman should feel like it. He should still be old school, and Grant Morrison proved how well that can work even today.

Making Superman contemporary or modern is like getting my grandfather to listen to Lil Wayne or something. It's just unnatural.

The people who complain about Superman being "too powerful" or "too goody two shoes" and the most eye rolling of them all, "unrelateable" are completely missing the point. Batman and Wonder Woman are just as unrelateable as Superman for the exact same reason: DC's biggest characters WEREN'T supposed to be relatable! They're supposed to be looked up to! You're supposed to say "Wow! Batman's awesome!", not "How am I supposed to relate to a multimillionare who's lived in luxury his entire life and has unlimited funds to do whatever he wants?".

    Me neither.

I gave up on TV when reality shows...became ALL that was on, and the other shows just didn't interest me.

Though the last two versions (before the kid) of Doctor Who were great!

Now (I've seen some episodes of the kid) the show SUCKS!

I watch dvd shows of shows I watched when I was young, and The KAMEN RIDER series, currently KR OOO's-ohzu- (still working on getting the 70's/80's Rider shows).

    They. are. COOL!

Every now and then they do a rerun of some very old TV series here, that I loved when I was younger, so then I get to see an episode with new eyes. And every time I am struck by how utterly inane and crappy it actually is. I suspect the same is true of today's popular series. Watch them twenty years from now and will wonder why on earth you wasted so much of you precious time watching such crap. ;-)

    Kabuto had it's flavor.

    Blade was okay.

    Den-o was GREAT!

    Kuuga was actually very good.

    Agito was...meh.

    W was GREAT!

    Kiva was very good!

Ryuki was my first series intro so I really liked that one.

    Hibiki was...meh.

OOO (ohzu) still hasn't warmed to me yet, though the comedy is fun!

Just read on Wiki (made sure I didn't miss a series name), After OOO there's Fourze!

    YESSSSSSSSSSSS!

Can't wait for the 40th anniversary movie!

Decade was good for the movies mostly.

    Faiz (555) was pretty good.
