Greetings This is my first post on the forum so yippee for that! My name is Samuel Downes, I'm an aspiring artist I haven't really decided upon what field I wish to specialize, but I know I would like have strong involvement with either game or film.
Recently I've been doing a lot of head studies mainly in pencil, think this is mainly because I'm most familiar with it, any and all feedback would be appreciated but please try and keep it constructive as opposed to a full on barrage of my work, aha.

When I first joined this forum I was really intimidated by the sheer quality and amazing work on here! But it's kind of helped me to discover that you can't keep comparing your work to that of other artists otherwise it'll send you a bit loopy.
I've been doing a lot of reading and I've decided to try and tighten up, work on my values, my aim is to do a lot of gesture drawings, and hopefully improve in terms of form, any and all advice and critique is welcome.
Also I've never had any formal colour theory teaching but from what I've read a lot of people recommend sorting out your values and then moving onto colour?

Also out of interest, why are my pictures coming out absolutely HUGE?!
Ohhh, I'll get on that now! thanks for the reply by the way! coincidently I was just checking out your sketchbook when you replied
great start!Try working seperatly on each part of the face.Draw some pages only with eyes, some pages with different noses, ears and such. That really helps when you are constructing the face later on or when you are trying to draw something unrealistic.Keep 'em coming .Cheers!
@rastaray: Thanks you so much for your post bud Yeah I'm really trying to improve in terms of portraits so I'll give that a try tomorrow for sure!
Today's been all about breaking through boundaries and accepting that Rome wasn't built in a day, since I've been frustrated at the results I've been getting. I think you have to accept that you're not great... yet.
Anyway! I've been studying Loomis today and his book figure drawing for all it's worth, something I have always struggled with, anyway here's my first study from his book. Also, I have been doing studies of eyes and noses, and any critique or advice regarding to anything I've done would be much appreciated.

Done in about an hour on photoshop tonight, I was determined to finish this before I went to bed so I'm pleased any critique or advice welcome
Here's a scene I've been working on today, I've been working really hard recently trying to understand perspective, though I feel I've yet to fully apply it in my work, will have to have an art dump sometime tomorrow or the day after =]
Hey guys I have a lot of stuff I need to scan in over the next few days but right here are a few things I've been working on on the computer, sketches, thumbnails .etc. .etc.
I've been doing alot of reading up on colour theory, checking out Lin Rans stuff (who, incidentally has become one of my favourite artists!)
Critique the f**k out of me. I implore you.
