Recently, I has been studying ancient Chinese architecture. I designed an imaginary level with the Chinese architecture which I researched for my personal game. And the following picture is the whole concept design of the level.

This entire scene is constituted by an alley and a monastery, and it includes nine different small areas.

The story is like this; there was a vicious accident happened in this monastery. There is a monk in order to study the scriptures of Buddhism that had been forbidden, he violated the religious discipline of kill, but his action was exposed, so the master would like to evict this monk. However the monk implored bitterly to his master. Finally the master in order to keep the regulation of monastery, he built a figure-in-stone of repentance-monk with a large stone house, and then put the monk in the stone house and made him repent for hid whole life. After this when people saw the figure-in-stone, they would remember that monk who violated the religious discipline of kill. And it would warning them do not repeat the same thing again. In this picture, I painstakingly set this figure-in-stone on a pool, because after raining, some of the rain will flow to the head of figure-in-stone, and then it will gather the water of rain to the position of eyes, finally the water will flow down into the pool. Thus when we see the scene at far ground, the rain will looks like tears from the repentance monk.

When I saw the tower-inside-tower which was named Feiying tower and was came from Zhejiang province in China from internet, I was suddenly attracted to it. This form of tower was really cool. On the other hand, I intended to add the form of China-adobe which was architecture of house-inside-house for the shape of the tower, but I didn’t intend to surround whole tower by outside-tower so it just surrounds half of the inner tower. Because I wanted to show more inside structure of inside-tower for the audiances, and I think half-surround was reflect out the concept of tower-inside-tower more.

The final battle is in the top of the tower in the entire scene which I shown at the beginning.

    hope you like
