    IREM Closes its doors.

I hate to draw attention away from the Oslo Terrorist Attacks and Winehouse's death, but the very company behind R-Type, Hammerin' Harry, Disaster Report, Ninja Baseball Bat Man, and Steambot Chronicles has gone bankrupt.

It really sucks because they had some of the greatest games during the late '80s to the early '90s while never getting the recognition that they deserved. Plus, many of their members worked on the Neo Geo games Last Resort, In The Hunt, and Metal Slug.

It has always surprised me that Irem always managed to be still around. There are many old game companies dead or they have fused with another one. The R-Type series is my favourite game series from that company, it's one of those shoot'm ups I want to play again someday.

Never thought that the creators of R-Type would share the same sentence as bankrupt.

To Arshes Nei: It just so happens that Nintendo was the distributor to the R-Type arcade game back in '87.

To Whitevilliage: Yep they were still around, but got ignored when they returned to video games in '99.

To Robobobo: Speaking of awesome music, have checked out the music to R-Type Delta and Final? That's great listening.

I could see it coming since disaster report sequel for ps3 was canned right after tsunami and nuclear events, still sad to see them go
hope the guys don't leave the industry anyway and their series would be caught up by some other studio in the future.
