my friend partisan sent me here, love the idea!
i love a post-apocalyptic thing; i remember seeing washington DC overrun with greenery in Logans Run and it melted my brain. Did anyone else make nothing except crazy land trains and jeeps after seeing Mad Max when they were about 10? Good times.
These are set in postapocalyptia; maybe after some massive forces have transformed the landscape and moved on, letting nature recolonise the plastic mountains and plains left behind... dunno if theyre any use..if theres any ideas you like feel free to use em.

Kind of agree - the game needs to set a time for the destruction/apocalypse - we don't have to do it in this day and age (fallout if anything did it decently with a futuristic 50s retro style (and we don't really want the same).

That said currently we are going for super mutations, daemons and almost all else ~ which is kind of ok at this point.

I like the tractor from M. - kind of remind me of Mars by Philip. K dick for not direct and obvious reason - but the kind of wasteland you get when the planet starts to die and fail that isn't just made from war and nuclear radiation, but more from a sort of Ragnarök or anything really that allows for some of the monsters SMiLEFACE have been creating.

Also that would allow the smoking bunny ~

But honestly I'll just add things of mine to the pile and have the powers that be sort it ~ and direct me further.

You guys have no idea how much this thread means to me its like the outlet I never had, you are all leaving me in awe, pushing me to do better and even if you dont relise this i am constantly learning from each and every one of you, makes me feel a little embarrassed that i post rushed images, im sorry about that, gotta go to work soon so this is what i can up with, a sort of time square - trench mutant camp, bottom left corner is the bar and sort of communal place.

Mr Petkovic: thats an epic take man it rocks! On mine I added the oil barrel on the side as one giant magazine of bullets for the gun, anyways your one is great i'm gonna try put your betsy into my next landscape attempt.

NickyBeats: like the sketches what marker do you use? and what type of pen on your sketch book, on mine i use a 0.1 unipin fine line, and standard ball point pens as for some reason i can show more value with the ball point cause it doesnt flow as fast as the fine point pens will upload a image to show you. P.s your sketchbook rocks i like the Dan tribute, actually many of your ideas are great.

Blankstate: Loving the bar tender, will try to put that into my next landscape.

Velocity Kendall: I saw your sketchbook you got some mad illustrations a very original technique a sort of 3d mix, you create good spacial illusions, whats your process? 3d program --> photography + photoshop ?

dan liimatta: lame question 4 u man --> Do you use a chalk brush at lower flow rates? you get some cool paint brush textures from your brush strokes, before you refine your image into more vibrant colors. SOme of your brush strokes give this effect that its if its just gently dabbed on, mmmmm like its not effected by pen pressure sensitivity it just sort of isnt a full on intense layer of color in certain areas, geez i hope you get what im trying to ask LOL!

Sickbrush: loving the style on that sniper! like a comics hybrid reality, very nice

Rinibee: I dont wanna be funny but you draw some sexy women! very good anatomy, your latest one seems really friendly and innocent, i know that sounds creepy but im being honest . . . . . . . . . ( post #177)

SMILEFACE: thank you for what you said, I love your landscape, will try to incorporate that red dust smopke cloud in my next piece, that gatling gun is some evil sh*t, i like how you got the sort of film like texture highlights in your image man it rocks!

An image of yours struck me earlier a of interest, perhaps even more than those you posted.

Personally I kind of like this for a post-apoc setting - a spaceship that goes awry.
Sci-fi yet in large where the living area is concerned built as a cutout of a modern day world with
homages to what earth was as a whole - like a historical monument to remind everyone on board
as they flew away what they had left.

Then somewhere between the earth and their destination a civil-war/invasion/scientific/magical-
deity apocalypse and the Ark of earth turned into an asylum.

It would allow for so much content wise yet would be in it self very contained due to lack of size -
and for all the players knew they could be in cylindrical war torn ruin of a landscape without much
to hint at the scientifically advanced machinery that is slowly dying below them.

& about pretty much "living in some shitty bunker doing way too much Can-D and waiting to die"

& a straight resonating dystopian terminal post-apocalypse is the best post.apoc.

Now for me its just ideas and I'd be ok with a mad-max or falloutesque game as I kind of like
doing concepts for that as well (wouldn't mind doing modern clothing or fantastic).

    AdrianNagorski
So I don't use photoshop when I paint - instead I use SAI*.
& I mostly use 100% on opacity (and there is no direct flow setting in SAI).
& Here are the major brushes I've used for this project.
    Name: WASTED_Brushwork.jpg
Views: 521
Size: 80.9 KB
Fuzz and Air are airbrushes and just paints over what ever is below - I'm normally in control enough
pressure wise - and the range is wide enough in SAI that I don't lower the opacity much (and didn't
for this test as all strokes are all capped at 100% in opacity, but all save the blockout has pressure
    sensitivity for opacity).
FineFlat, Nosiy and Water are all more like oil brushes - they smudge and bleed and I use them to
either slightly blend and distort like with the noisy one (you can lower the amount of noise, and I
sometimes use other bitmaps as the brush base then seen here.
Water just blends mostly - it adds a bit of colour (and I usually have strong primary colours when I
use it as the amount it adds is so little.
FineFlat blends a great deal (75% bleed) but you can still paint in new things with it - but mostly I
    blend what I already have.
Blockout is an ink brush (in SAI) - one I use when I don't want any opacity change at all - but I use
different bases to get variation in edge work as seen here.

Hope that helps a little bit.
    * I do use filters and the like that aren't in SAI however, so the pieces often are a mix of program.

That said I think perhaps the best thing for you currently would be to add a foundation that isn't white -
take a colour that fits the piece you want to do and paint over that - will make it look a lot better and you
can work from midtones to the extreme instead (generally easier)

    Paolo13
I've always liked your strange and wicked humans ~ and your soft brushes ~ would be fun to see more ~

    lancer_idenoure
Akimbo chainsaws and Minguns and now Flamethrowers ~ I'm really starting to see a sort of ballet like
combat going on in here as they swirl and fly around in archs of fire and death.

Exactamundo Adrian! give it a try, loads of fun!

Dan"It would allow for so much content wise yet would be in it self very contained due to lack of size -

This theme has been well explored actually, Ive been pointed by people at Gene Wolfe's Book of the Long Sun, and from my own reading recommend the Confluence Trilogy by Paul McAuley, set on an improbable artificial world built by our godlike decendents and populated by feral machines and animals in human form...

I also STRONGLY recommend The Rediscovery of Man by Cordwainer Smith. Words fail with that shit.

Other generation starship gone wrong scenarios pop up in Ring by Steven Baxter, Eon and Hull 03 by Greg Bear, and NonStop by Brian Aldis, among others. And Wall-E of course!

All sci fi has a subtext, and a tiny life-bearing bit of air and water plummeting through space whose integrity is being jeopardised by the ignorance and greed of its inhabitants has obvious implications for our own situation on Earth...

SMILEFACE Rock on brutha! I got that model free off the net anyway!

Yeah, I believe I even mentioned the book of the long sun in your
SB thread (so hardly mine etc).
& I don't have a big problem with some of the base ideas being the
same as something else, as long as you don't just copy it straight
    off.
& I think it would be a good playground for strange things which is
the main thing I like about post-apoc - the mishmash of everything.

or when people go to war.

(from the riots in Egypt, protects in part against sticks and stones)

My favorite post-apoc world/story is still Nausicää I think - the
manga anyway with a new world blooming at the heart of the
corruption, one that will terminate all currently living life forms as
it purges the old sins from the earth.

In the end spins and takes of ideas that you allow to grow in your
own directions are usually nice enough and is often easier to get
into for people as well (besides being partly tested before - not that
I'd want the sitcom blueprint of post-apoc games).

& I have to check out most of the other books you mentioned ~ as
they are new to me \o/

I've been seeing all these concepts for "Wasted" in so many people books, it's neat to finally see what all the hubub is about. Lots of cool contributions everyone, and killer job getting so much activity on this project mr.smileface. Hopefully i can sneak in here myself with a contribution sometime.

    Keep it up!
