    Cytochrome's sketchbook: Help me improve!

    Hello everyone, I'm new to this amazingly helpful and inspirational site. I'm a 16-year-old who loves drawing and wants to improve, so a sketchbook on here would be motivational for me. Crits would be loved! I'm not afraid of criticism since it'll help me improve.

    Latest work: study of Michelangelo's The Libyan Sibyl. (see latest post)

    @zaccrockett, Thanks for the welcome!

    Here are two sketches that I moved from the first post to refresh the thumbnail:

    Here's another sketch I just finished, a small study of Tom Lovell's work. I'm not too happy with the shading...it looked a lot better when it was just lineart. xD

    Today I ventured way outside my comfort zone in trying digital painting. Working on a study of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. Choosing colors has been pretty difficult, and the eyes have been giving me a lot of trouble. xD I've never really painted digitally before, and especially not without a sketch or line drawing before. Pretty exciting learning experience...

    Crits would be loved!

    And here is some more work on it, with lips and an actual pearl earring this time.

    Finished the study. Happy about some things, not so much about others, but I definitely learned a lot!

    Churning out some really nice work! I like the study you did. Seems like the brow might be a tad off with the shadows. The form of the far side doesn't seem to match the closer one. It could be the lack of eyebrows that is messing with my eyes when looking at it. Great stuff in here!

    Working on another study from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel fresco.

    I always thought his style of unrealistically bulky muscles was funny...

    Thanks for the support!

    I'm trying to do some more anatomy studies, but I'm not quite sure how to approach them. Is the idea just that if i keep drawing muscles and figures more and more, I'll be able to slowly memorize/recognize how to do it? Or should I be paying closer attention to something else?
