    Ben's Sketchbook of Doom

    Hi!

I want to get better at drawing and painting. Any critique and suggested studies would be an enormous help.

    Thanks

Great studies. In some of the life drawings parts of them flatten out. For example, in 3rd figure, in your 2nd post, having the shading being equal from the obliques to his groin is flat. there's a plan break between the front and side of the torso, and it would come across better if you shaded those surfaces different. More like how you did in the one below it. It would also be great if you drew feet less abstractly =) .

Thanks NicoleWG. Very helpful crits. You're right, I have a lot of trouble drawing feet! I'll work on some feet and hand studies.

So far so good, nice and varies sketch book start!
For your figures, I think the proportions are off sometimes, head-body relation or limbs body. I see some great bridgman studies too. When i studied bridgman I mostly copied the lines because now, when I look at his studies, I feel like it's to much of his style in it and i tend to draw like that, and not in my own style. So be careful and understand his work, not just copy.
The environment has some nice values, nice work on that!
