hope everybody had a lovely christmas, i definitely did! going to download riven phoenix's 'the structure of man' and crack down on anatomy. also thinking of some streaming downloads to support CA, and possibly the rendering tutorial on ctrl+paint. yay, christmas money = art books and tutorials!

excuse the spot on my camera lens D:
the last one is the same picture as i tried digital, think it looks better this time.

trying out some color...not too stoked on my colors so far though, so i might redo in greyscale for now. i think the sketch is alright, though (: obviously super rough at the moment...any feedback on how it looks so far would be appreciated. pans labyrinth (:

Will you remove the lines afterwards, of do you plan to keep them? I personnally never work with lineart when I do digital painting. Without lineart, you're free to paint and add shapes and details you didn't think about at first.

But everyone has a different way to process ^^

hm. for me, i guess i sort of like coloring in the lines. definitely something to think about/experiment with. i was planning that once its colored to go back and erase most of the lines. i'm referencing from a movie still, so i already feel like i have the main shapes, although on several occasions i just color outside the line and erase/move the line.
i'll post an update before i go to sleep!

I can clearly see improvement. Your proportions are not quite there yet, but it's getting there! Just keep up what you're doing and I think you're going to do great.

    Happy drawing! :3

Good improvement on those last Loomis studies!

You should try and paint or 'sculpt' the lips more on your portrait as when you outline them its makes them really pop off the face. Post # 127 is good example!

Keep it up lots and stick to your new years resolution

thank you! i will work on lips more. thanks for the feedback, i really appreciate it.
    finding time to draw with the new job has been hard, there's been lots of training and still more to come. so not much to share, but i'll try to have more next time (;
so much to learn...don't know how to choose what's most important, i wish we didn't have to.

    Great progress.
Try to look twice draw ones. Maybe it'll help you to measure some things out. Like how far apart are the eye's and mouth and where do they start compared to chin. where is the jaw line compared to the mouth, etc.

    Keep it up! :cheer:

    hey,

thanks for the advice! i definitely am trying to look more carefully at everything before i start drawing. also, i feel like since starting to draw more i definitely look more carefully at everyything around me and how i would draw them.

so i spent some time coloring this one...and then photoshop froze. AWESOME.
