Thread: Macs's Skethces
July 6th, 2011 #1
New first message (because the previous one was a bit joyless and it shouldn't be, after all I'm drawing or what ):
Hope you can find something here for your eyes. I know it's not a fivestarcollection here. Still. So I'm learning. Slowly. So I can put things here slowly. But I will.
All crits and comments are very welcome.
(I know: bad english - sometimes with google translator )

1. 45 sec posemaniacs: at the first row I tried to take care of my lines (in the school this was a big problem for me too ), the other rows are free doodlings, not nice ones, but somehow I feel they're better in forms.
Maybe it would better if I just draw and maybe with practicing my lines are coming better. Don't know but I'll give it a try.
2. Little things from my manual sketchbook and piece of papers

giraffes, face made from reference, and doodles from imagination(the idea came from the silhouettes drawings - just with ballpoint pen).
The last pics idea is came from my workmate. In english, it means mouse stuffed with cheese

And the last one for today.
Thanks to William Whitaker for his ideas about copying for learning.
So this is a copy from Victor Lee's witch doctor concept for Diablo 3, what I made today during my worktime .

A fresh one for a friend. It's going to be a decal, the white line means where to cut it.

Practising the techniques:
I know watercolor is not so good in technique, but it was my best in it and the acrilyc the bottle's form is bad.

works for illustration classes. The watercolors are better here than what I made in class, it's because I don't like when somebody is looking what I'm doing )

And the last one is an eyecandy I think - I really like the texture on it. It's acrillyc too.

You were away for the whole summer, I almost forgot
about this sketchbook. But how could I not forgot when
there is so many sketchbooks out there.
You gathered some nice pieces for these last months.
About your digital paintings, I would like to mention that you
started to be good with colors, but watch out, do not
forget about black and white studies, so you could get a better
understanding on values. Doing so much traditional paintings,
will give you only advantage over the ones, who do only digital
paintings. I think that you evolved and that you will evolve
even more if you keep this sketchbook up and if you will be
consistent. So do not waste more time, pencils and brushes
in hands and let's paint and draw. Cheers.

Yuhuuu, you made my day, dear LtPlissken
Thanks for your advice in values. My school is using almost only traditional things. They don't really let us, to work in digital. It's sometimes so hard. But as you said it has advantages.
Never mind about forgetting my sb, I was'nt really active. I try spend more time with drawing/painting, but unfortunately I have to waste time to avoid of starvation with work
Thank you again to sharing me your advices.

It's almost end of this year, and I almost draw all the empty pages in my paper sketchbook. For this reason I am starting to share a collection of the pics I like in some way. This pics were made after the witch doctor copy.
These ones are Hogarth studies, from life (mostly on beach), and from mind (dragons were made for the decal that I mentioned before)

Thank you. You're right they're little ones. The size of my sketchbook is A/5, and it is as cluttered as you can see on the third image. Maybe next time I try to carve them in rice.
So I'm not proud of it and I know I should do bigger and clearer images. And should place here better quality. Maybe the new sketchbook without grid can help a little.

AllyAlbon: thank you
So here it is why I wanted to know how the feather looks like (I know it looks like that I learnt nothing from that study). It's early to come out with this pic, because it has many mistakes and misses a lots of work. Without these defects it could be a good picture, but not enough knowledge yet.

New year new rl sketchbook. And of course new goals:
1. cleaner sketchbook
2. bigger drawings
3. nicer lines
1. tram quickies and some bridgman
2. bridgman and an indian man from flickr
3. an indian girl photo copy from flickr - she doesn't look like on the photo, I don't know who was in my head when I try to draw her
