My Sketchy Past, Present and Future

Hellloooo everyone. My name is Gus, I am 19 and I have been sketching on and off for pretty much my whole life. Having done a few WIPs I have now decided it is time to get back to some fundamentals of drawing and start a sketch thread. I have done a few part time art courses at collage but now I feel up to presenting some stuff on the web to be critiqued.
Oh, and I am currently attending a Games Development course at Liverpool college.

Along with presenting some new stuff I will show you some stuff I have been working on over the last few years.

Please, I welcome you to point out flaws and mistakes I may and probably am making.

    I will upload more soon...

Hi Guys, I've been doing a lot of gesture drawing recently...
I'm really trying to grasp the human form but there is just so much to consider... Shadow, highlight, form, value, color, clothing, environmental lighting, etc.

BLIMEY!! Understating what you are drawing apposed to just drawing it is like doing quantum physics on the fly! My head aches after just 30 minutes!

    Anyway... See what you think.

like your cartoony style on the first post, my advice would be to look at the bigger shapes what you are drawing and develop on them, btw I live in Liverpool too.

    More stuff from the week...

    Some more...

    (Last Image)
I've been reading Jurassic Park and it compelled me try out disneyfying the characters. I was trying to emulate in some way what Tealin' did to the Harry Potter characters.
Click http://www.nocturnalsoldier.org/Tealin/artindex.html to see what I’m talking about.

Oh.. and as before any advice greatly appreciated. ;P

    New tablet?

    Hi guys and gals.
I have had my bargain bin graphics tablet for a few years now and am now considering buying a new one (cheap ebay graphire4 looked good). It is a G-Pen 450 and has 1024 pressure levels according to the casing but I have suspicions this may not be the whole truth.

Anyway it would be great if you could check out the image below and tell what you think of the one I have now. ;P

    More sketches soon...

    More Stuff

Hi all, here's the next batch of stuff I though worthy of sharing. I am trying to get a better grips with the lower body bones before moving on with the muscles. I am currently working using Jeno Barcsay's anatomy for the artist book although I am finding the images a little small.
I am also finding difficulty getting the lighting right for the images so they have been photoshopped a great deal. Sorry about that.

The last three are from imagination. I was trying to mimic Miles Johnsons early work on the first of them. I am very frustrated with it but I though it good to put up to "wake me up" into doing better work!

PS. By the way I’m looking at buying the Graphire4 graphics tablet as it is cheap and also, I believe, an improvement of the G-pen 450 of mine.

Anyhoo, please feel free to comment.

    April Sketches

Here are some more sketches I have been making when out and about.
(I am sorry about the "graininess". I really need to figure out how to quickly capture images and clean them up without that grubbiness.)

Hopefully in the next post I would have figured out how to make the images cleaner...

    Critique away!
