Your gesture work is really fun and awesome! I like how your sketches from imagination are just as fluid and full of movement as your life studies.

Coyox - Thanks, it's easier to do fluid gestures from imagination after doing several dozen from ref, heh.

Psychobuddy - Thanks, a lot of that's down to the ref. =)

Another one of these, trying to get back into doing studies of things other than faces. Not super happy with this one, this is about the largest size I'm willing to post it at, any bigger and it looks increasingly dumb.

REF LINK (I hate using ref when I can't credit the source properly, but it's so hard to find good refs for these kinds of studies, blah.)

    Octic - Thanks a ton!

    Whirly
    - Thanks, still not brave enough to try them from imagination, though. The studies are kind of a struggle. D:

More Hampton-type gesture stuff. Going through this book is making me realize that I had absolutely no sense of how big a ribcage actually is.

Also, this. Drawn out the window of a restaurant, and is thus unfinished, as my friends had finished eating. Oh my god, this composition is awkward.

Ahhh I love what you've got going on in here! You're improving pretty quickly and no wonder. I love the gestures, the environments are looking good and there's a lot of life to your work. Keep up the fabulous work. c:

Sapphirelullaby - Thanks a ton! Good to hear there's some life to it, honestly I've been trying to loosen up, didn't like how stiff it was getting.

    merl1n - Thanks, I will!

I've been doing a lot of ballpoint sketchbook stuff lately. Probably a good thing?

PROTIP: If you have no easy access to lifedrawing, just creep on your friends while they're trying to nap! Do it often enough and they'll be completely desensitized.

Blaaaaah heads from imagination, they're kind of awful. I just need to do like 3 million more studies, but it's good to do these every once in a while to sort of check in on what I need to work on. Which is basically everything.

    Whine whine whine.

Back to Serenity screencap studies, because it was on TV yesterday and man do I love this movie.

    About 40 minutes?

    so hey

remember when I was like "soon this thread will just be increasingly desperate attempts to paint Nathan Fillion"

    we're back on that now

    Attachment 1481210

Another Serenity screencap, this one took over an hour because there is something about Nathan Fillion's face that continually defeats me.

More, less-awful heads from imagination. I was planning to do another screencap study, but after looking through some to pick one, I decided I wanted to see if I could ape some of the cool lighting from memory - that's the left one. The right one is... a thing.
