    Teen Challenge 126: The Bog

    Teen Challenge 126: The Bog

    Teen Challenge 126: The Bog

    Topic
    Hola, my little ones.
This week's topic is The Bog(or swamp if you so prefer). Now, it's not any other bog. It's The Bog.
See? Now you have to make it a special bog.
Is there a witch living there? Is there something huge lurking beneath its waters? Are there zombies?!
I have to stop now or I won't be able to sleep, but you get the idea.

    Focus
This weeks focus is mood. Give me that creepy mood.
Make me think about things like death, sorrow etc without any skulls or crying angels. Here's some inspiration for y'all.

    Deadline
The deadline is Sunday 10th of July, 23:59 GMT

    D:

    - did it have to be a scary mood? or is it up to us which mood?

Dennis, you can focus on bog creatures/whatever, as long as bog is a central theme

Ogihara, the mood can be whatever you like.

This is gonna be my first ever Teen Challenge :K
I'm 16 and have a long way to go before becoming good so I'm here to learn!

Did some (very) quick thumbnails in alchemy. I'm going for a misty swamp with a sunken rowing boat to make it kind of ominous.
    I'm thinking 1 or 3 (most likely), 2 is much too cheery-looking and I just don't like 4.

Here is my sketch. I don't have wacom or photoshop, so I sketched mines on newsprint. I might have time to paint it in watercolor, but I am new to painting in watercolor and have been practicing by doing plein aire, so no time for teen challenge if I want to be good at color first. (those ellipses radiating light are from between the spaces of trees, I outlined them for simplicity's sake).

    Backstory:

The location was once a small isolated city, but became known as "the bog" ever since the failed nuclear containment that tried to clear an alien threat; the land has now become inhospitable. Since after the nuclear containment has failed, the virus has mutated into a stronger variant. The bog began to spread across the nation. A new strategy was in order for the extermination; a new bio-counter special tactics units group are established to sabotage the virus strain with a genetically engineered one made by a famous scientist, whom has since passed on. This new virus strain will compete by evolution at a microbial level, spreading as fast as the mutated strain by using the mutant as a host. Hopefully the genetically engineered strain will destroy its mutant cousin. Then a new containment procedure will be installed for the genetically engineered virus. Assuming the special forces succeed in the sabotage, there is no guarantee that the genetically engineered variant will succeed in a battle of evolution, and all the while there are still real time conflicts caused by the mutations, that for the sake of humanity, cannot be left alone to manifest.

The thumbnail on the lower left are silhouettes of special forces carrying the specimen. The circle and the squiggly lines and dots on the left are the viruses under electron microscope. The virus is known to infect any organism, except for certain plants. I might also add a mutated human somewhere.

Thought I'd give this a try too.
I've never really done environments, so I guess I'll learn a lot from this

Hmm, something weird is up here. Heres the situation guys: Im stuck on an island in the north sea with no internet connection (I'm using my phone right now, which is expeeensive). Andrew was on vacation when I left, but got back two days after and we decided he would take care of everything. *dramatic pause* But something must have happened. He's not here.

Therefore, when a capable person sees this. Yes, you! You will create a new topic. The next TC, it will be a two week special (I'll be back in the realm of the land-dwellers by then) and the topic will be 'Lost At Sea'. Turn this cataclysmic event in the Teen Challenge's history into an awe-inspiring masterpiece that will last throughout the ages! Give me lightning! Thunder! Tornadoes! Sea serpents! WHALES!! Yeah, just make it dramatic and good.
Also, did I mention there will be a prize?

So yeah, make a thread titteled "Teen Challenge #12x Summer Special - Lost At Sea" include the standard TC picture, follow my format and - most importantly, quote this message. Now go, my little ones! Spread the word!

(And gosh darn this phone makes it hard to correct spelling mistakes, especially with a broken knob - so grizzly bear with me!)

    Well, my post still stands.

*rows grumbling back to his island*

Eep. Uhm, I'll try to post up the proper threads now. Been busy and didn't get around to it. I tried earlier today but the attachment manager was acting up on me...hopefully it's better now. And I have a nice long study to post in my sketchbook hopefully tonight as well.
