Spontaneous doodles and a study(awesome colours in the pic and also tried a new way of painting again, with the first. The little random black and white chars beneath are painted 99% with the smudge brush, in the study I used it a lot also. Quite fun but I'm not sure it's the most effecient way..

I was determined to do some pose practise... I did about 3 stickmen-like dude and then soon drifted off into painting one of them. Very random and spontanious/unplanned stuff lately. Anyway, around 15-20 mins, no refs at all, I might do a few more cause I kinda like this guy for the time it took me.

Painted a bit more this night

right and middle are painted from mind, no refs. The knight on the right is painted with smudge and very quick, no line drawing etc as mentioned before. The middle one is painted slower with a linedrawing first and regular brushes.

As a test, I then I painted the nordic viking dude on the left using alot more ref. I used one picture for the head/helmet roughly and values. For the pose I took a snapshot from 3ds max using an axe I modelled earlier, and a character that comes with max 2012

Very very obvious that when painting from mind my stuff is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to contrasted I need to edit my brushes a bit so they aren't as sensitive and change the way I think. My poses from mind are sort of okay, although the legs and feet are still horrible. I need to practise on that. Or I'll just use the 3D posing more often - it gives me more control over the end result & camera angle and such anyway...

Nice art! I love your diner on the first page. The big finished piece on this page is beautifully creative IMO!

    Weird trying-to-stay-awake painting.

Ugly, but anyway, win some - lose some :p

Messing around with traditional painting this time, just a very short loose study
