Exclamation Sketchbooooooooooooooook of Mtr - 2011-08-12

    Hello!

I'm from Sweden and Im 24 years old.

About 2 years ago I used to have a sketchbook here on CA, but I figured Id start a new one that I could keep up to date.
Im currently working on a variety of different things, but mainly on color and painting, which I believe is my biggest weakness as of now.

All of the stuff in this post are studies from this June, so Im not posting anything older than that.
I'll try to post these in a chronological order.

    Please feel free to comment!

And heres some Imaginary stuff from this month.

Most of them are from trying to apply what I learned from my studies and some of them were just for fun.
Alot of unfinished crap, but I have to show that stuff too if I want to improve !

Nice work. Your attention to the gesture of the poses is quite evident, and your digital paintings are shaping up nicely. I think a higher amount of contrast and a bit more widespread color variation would definitely help, the third one from the bottom has a very nice level of contrast; however the face of the mountain seems lost due to the lack of color variation within it.

All in all, excellent work. Those hand and mouth sketches make me a bit jealous. Keep up the good work.

Visceral Illusions: Thanks for your comment and crit, I appreciate it !
    agelaos: Thanks man!

It was very hot today, like 35 Celsius. I had a hard time concentrating.. Im gonna do more painting tomorrow.

But one has to keep on drawing, so I did some hand studies from Hogarth and life + some portrait studies and gestures.

Man! Really great sketchbook. Your gesture sketches are really great to look at. And your historical character sketches look nicely weighted. Great stuff!

ian_ruff: Thanks! I really like gesture and anatomy so my strengths are probably there.

gonna push myself to the limit this month and take every crit from the stream today to make things happen !

I'm happy I got into the top 10, this was a fun challenge. But hopefully im much better in July !

Heres 2 Lifedrawings from today, the first one is from earlier before the stream and the second one after I recieved my critique.

Feels like Ive been so blind haha, I cant believe how much more you learn by just pushing it.. Im gonna give it my all on all studies from now on!

    Hello everyone!

I did some handstudies from hogarth today, and I also tried to finish that lifepainting from yesterday. Afterwards I tried to recreate that same painting from memory but I got the values and colors wrong

My eyes are really red now and its late so I'm off to bed.

I reviewed some anatomy from Bridgman today. And then I did a figure painting which I spent quite some time on. It isn't done yet though.

Tomorrow Im off on a vacation for a week so I won't upload anything during this comming week.

    Enjoy, everyone!

You make it look so easy to paint and draw XD
I especially dig the nature and fantasy scenes.

mosishmon: Thanks, I agree I should draw more cars. :p

Here's a study from today that is in progress, from a picture on characterdesign.com.
I didn't know they had "texture" reference on that site ! And it looked pretty hard to do so I had to give it a go. I think the block in is pretty good.. the colors and values are somewhat accurate but the measurements are off.

Ill try to finish it tomorrow.

I also did some more work on my environment, its comming along pretty good I guess. But its nowhere near what I want...
