Hey everyone! I've been totally lame the last 6 or so months in terms of updating this place.

Thanks man, you're totally right. The face is still my weak point, but I'm enjoying the process so hopefully I'll crack it soon!

Thank you! Apologise for the long ass wait.

First up! Sketches. This is going to be a monster dump. most of these are super fast, low quality bits. But I learnt a lot from them.

Like it was mentioned in this sketchbook, your values are sick! Definitely your main strength. Your figure drawings aren't too bad either! Please keep posting!

Great sketchbook, keep us updated more! I really like your value control and brushwork. If I were to offer any advice, it would be to check the structural integrity of your subject often. Things kind of get wompy on the edges, especially faces. Flip that canvas often and in every direction.

AztcFireFlower Thanks! I always pray my work has some sort of narrative and interest, opposed to just being another attempt at something cool.

    Thanks man! Let's hope so.

This is a devouring Grub Snatcher. He lurks on the bottom of the ground, attracting in smaller creatures with his vibrant red tongue. Little do they know, it's covered in a sticky gel. Once trapped, the grub snatcher begins to pick away at their flesh with his two pincers.
The exoskeleton resembles the corpse of a different creature entirely. In this world, many creatures have evolved this corpse camouflage as a means of deception.

Dude bro man, it's looking good, figured I'd drop some critique here, take it or leave it.
If you do take it, take it with a grain of salt.

It feels a bit like your rushing yourself, I don't know if you put yourself on a time limit on it
but if so, I don't think that's the right thing for you to do right now, i'd say, push yourself as
far and as long as possible on your pieces to get them to a more finished level. For this one
the lineart's showing through in a lot of places and it's giving it a pretty rough feeling, i'd
also say that you should try to work on the sharpness a bit, especially at the edges,
and push your textures bro, if it's slimy, express that more, is it dry? Use some stronger textures.
What I'm saying is, more textures, you're using them a bit too subtly right now,
    In my opinion of course.

Look at this for some reference of sharpness and shit, http://cryptcrawler.deviantart.com/a...F4278841&qo=10
Since the subject matter is kind of maybe similar imo.

So you know.. yeah. Talk to me on skype.

Oh and shit, I forgot to mention, I think you should decrease the blur on the tail to show more of the concept,
how the stinger is attached and shit.

    yee

hey man, i love the way you handle your skintones especially in your portraits. You have to make your sketches a little bit tighter though.

Whoa so much has happened since my last update! I work at Atomhawk now as a Junior Artist; snatti forced me to update as I owe him pizza. But it's no big deal, I really should invest more into this site, you bunch of lovelies.
There's some real nice comments here, thank you all for the kind words and encouragement, I'll try harder not to be such a butt at updating. The new site's looking fresh.

Man I've got so much to show! But I can't. This is a tiny tiny fraction of work from the last 3 months; I can't wait to see were I land this time next year. I'm really busting my ass trying to get my skills up, the more I learn the more I realize I don't know. It's painful and exciting and rewarding all at once.
