Do all pigments mix to white or do all pigments mix to black?

    Leonardo Da Vinci or Michaelangelo?

    Which seat can I take?

Oh, god -- red on beige. My eeeeeeeyes.

I knew I shouldn't've clicked on this thread.
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).

There are just as many liberals who are closed-minded as there are conservatives. IMO, anyone on one side of the spectrum or the other needs to open their eyes and mind. The far leftists/rightists are what is wrong with the US.

I open this discussion realizing that a huge majority of the membership here is probably very liberally oriented.
(Ide like to ask there be no mocking or name calling if possible...)
I think being open minded is allowing other people to live and voice opposite lifestyles and opinions. Not trying to silence them or pass laws to control them.
Usually, not always, conservatives want to control your body and liberals want to control your wallet. I don't appreciate either one.

Politics is a fetishistic view of life, that fixates on one aspect of reality and funnels all information down through it. Like people who only see things in terms of Freudianism, or only through the Marxioid "Oppressed or Oppressor" categories, or only as "what god wants me to do" or as class jealousy, or how much money I make compared to you...

Politics destroys so many minds because it plays on people's hatred, jealousies and disappointments with life and turns them into mindless perfect consumers of the ideology and rejectors of anything not sanctioned from within their bubble.

Politics is the problem. The antidote is being more concerned with your own life than how you compare with others, and more concerned with thinking for yourself and doing for yourself than having someone else do your doing and thinking for you. In other words, shut down your media intake, and increase your life experience.

Blindly following a party line, whether it's liberal or conservative, democrat or republican, is, IMHO, no different than being in a cult.
"Contrary to the belief of the layman, the essential of art is not to imitate nature, but under the guise of imitation to stir up excitement with pure plastic elements: measurements, directions, ornaments, lights, values, colors, substances, divided and organized according to the injunctions of natural laws. While so occupied, the artist never ceases to be subservient to nature, but instead of imitating the incidents in a paltry way, he imitates the laws."-Andre Lhote

Would it were so. I'm afraid we've got a nest of Randians here though.
