Charcoal is messy, so accept it and make a mess. Using chalk or white pastel helps to bring it back.

That was a difficult pose on the last one with all the foreshortening. Well done.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

WRappii: Thank you for stopping by! I remember having issues with that part in the class....it's probably one of the reasons why I attempted to redraw it a couple of times. Still didn't get it right though. :/

Black Spot: You are so right. I've always had an issue with getting messy throughout my time with art. Which is probably why I love digital so much. Still, this is something that I've put much thought into (it's funny that this is something that I really have to think about) that past couple of weeks. Will definitely try and loosen up some next time.

    Bobmeatbag: Thanks again!

    Thank you, guys.

Still drawing everyday, just not really that happy with the majority of my stuff. Been doing lots of studies lately, and getting down to the basics. I think I may have information overload, particularly with color theory.

Anyways, a couple of doodles from imagination I worked on today and yesterday...some parts of the clothes were referenced on the female.

    I love your paintings.

I have crit for the skull! The lighting on the fabric is brilliantly done. I think the skull looks a bit monochromatic. Wouldn't some of the fabric reflect more on it? Although I see there is some colour reflection on the chin.

I love the strokes and the value of it, too.

towy: Thank you! I enjoyed looking at your sketchbook as well.

WRappii: Thank you...that's definitely what I've been going for recently. I'm actually thinking about trying to switch it up a little and going both more curvier and skinnier.

Icecold: I really like your art. I appreciate the kind words!

Umbravita: Thanks for stopping by again. As I was working on the skull picture, I was thinking the same thing. I don't know, maybe I didn't look hard enough, but there wasn't a lot of reflected light from the cloth or the objects around my room. I thought there would be, especially since the skull is a white cast. Maybe next time I will just take some liberties with the picture. Good catch and thanks for the crit.

It's weird, I can draw half decent looking figures from life, but I can barely draw a passable apple.

Also, I revisited an old character I started working on last year. I just like the idea. Still, this is just a WIP and I had to stop because I need to do more studies of the human back as I just don't understand the shapes and how the light affects the muscles. All of the values on the back view are referenced. Some reference was used for values on the front view as well.

Oh cool stuff. I love the characters. really well done and good anatomy.
The paintings of post 152 are really good (the black and white girl and the portrait of the guy). they have a really good use of values.
I don't have much to crit, I like your stuff, the only thing is that your latest painting need a bit more darker values. For example compare the girl in post 186 to the one you did on post 152. The girl in 152 has a higher value range and it looks really good, it looks more defined.
Anyways keep it up! really great stuff here.

Voodoo MamaThanks for checking out my sketchbook and for the critique as well. You are absolutely right...unfortunately, I didn't spend as much time on the new girl as I did with the other one. I will do so in the future though!

Spoon. Should have used more desaturated colors on it as the orange pops out too much.

The thighs of that most recent figure are creeeeepy. But so well done!

And, that apple's curious, what's causing the colouration there? Is that the light or is it one of those weirdly coloured green/red apples?

    WRappiii: Thanks again, man.

Topcross: Thank you! I wish I could see that.

    Sean McClain: Thanks!

Bacon: I love bacon.... and I hope that I can get to a pro level. Life is going to suck if I don't. Thanks for stopping by!

Umbravita Thanks! I was going for a skinny type witch creature. I've done some more sketches of her and have a scene rough out for her. As for the apple, that's actually a plastic apple with one green side and a red side. I don't know why they painted it like that as I've never seen a real one colored like that, but nevertheless, it's interesting.

I have another still life that I started yesterday and I will post it this afternoon.

The apple is looking good. The red part could have done with a bit more work. SP is looking solid. It's funny how the simple things like that spoon can go so wrong. You could still rescue it.
