I should really post more often
I still creep around this site all the time but i never comment on anyone's SBs or my own... hmmmmmm
Don't know which style of painting i like better
A pic i did for my friend cause i missed her B-day party. The on on my DA is in higher res... i think she kind of looks like a dog... oh wellll:

welcome back I guess
The paintings are looking good! I feel like in your tree landscapes you could be using detail more purposefully...or something like that. There seem to be lots of leaves and shrubs that are painted in very meticulously but they all draw equal focus and I'm not really sure what to look at in the image. Just a thought :/
here's a link about this I guess
K, cya around, I hope you start posting more
Vertical: Thanks man! I honestly doubt i'm going to post a lot around here just because it takes so much time from drawing but i'm really trying to, haha
Pretty much every time i paint landscape it's for the purpose of learning to paint backgrounds so nothing in the landscape has any actual reason other than to set me up for a character. After i paint the character i blur the pic to create a hierarchy. That's also thy there is so much pointless bad detail, because in the end result it will just amount to blur, but the detail still barely shows through so it's like blurring a photo. You should know that you comments and critiques do push these thoughts deeper into my brain and get me thinking so i really do appreciate them!
Here is a tutorial i made because i thought it might help Ezekrialase
I hope i don't come off as a know it all pretentious d-bag... I'm not delusional i know i'm not very good but i've just had a few revelations that i'm eager to share cause i don't have any art friends
anyway just thought i might upload this here in case i could be of use to someone:
And it seems wrong to upload without and unfinished sketch so here one is
(btw, DAT EAR... is so bad:
And an old value study found in the same hidden spot i found the sketch above.
Whoa. Did you say you were color blind on the first page? I am shocked.
For someone who seems to be good with color, I would of never suspected.
and goodness, AMAZING eyes in this one: http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...6&d=1332466066

Wonderful start on your sb! I love the people and the faces, you're very good att that. The environmentals are very nice. Hope to see more from you.
Keep up the good work!
I caught your tutorial on ezekrialase's SB and thought it was really cool so just wanted to offer thanks.
You have a really great sketchbook going. A quick thing I noticed, although I could be wrong, is that a lot of your lighting seems a little too ambient. Maybe a few direct and local light studies might help. Film stills are great for this (blade runner, blade runner, blade runner etc ) Just a thought
Im really liking some of those environment too .. more of those please
Wow man, love your style so much, also that first illustration on the first page is sick .

Hey! Sorry for such big gaps between uploads! Anyway, I had to upload to try out the new and improved DA. I like the layout a lot and uploading files is SOOO much more convenient.
Anyway here are 2 drawings from a few weeks ago. Lots of mistakes I see now that I didn't see then... story of an artist's life, I guess.
I'll try and upload some studies and stuff soon
KONM: Aww Thanks
ImmortalCintiq: Thank you! the one on the left was painted with spackled brushes with an emphasis on brush strokes, and the right was smoothed out and cleaned up. I love different process's/ wasn't trained formally too.
Whirly: Glad it was of use Yeah, I should do different types of lighting more often, but I love ambient so much! Thanks, I'll try to upload more environments soon, but I always save them up so I can use them as bg's and then time passes and I hate them and no longer want to upload them... so I have to sort that out haha
Will123Will: Thank you!
See you guys soon... unless I get obsessed with this place, kill my productivity by looking at all the amazing art and have to cut myself off to revive said productivity... again...
wow i'm 18 as well and you're making me feel bad! I really like the painterly feel in your latest pieces (If that sentence makes any sense what so ever)
Loving the sketchbook keep it up! (:
Wow you have some serious talent. Your clothing and material studies especially are spot on.
Can you guys be honest with me for a sec and tell my if you think this is too loose
I really like doing stuff in this style but I don't know if I'll be able to get jobs doing it
Anyway I'd really appreciate the Feedback, I'll have mare uploads/studies/sketches later
AmyRedd: Well I'm 19 now... which is definitely too old to be as bad as i am I want to see your work but couldn't find a link to a sketchbook or anything. And thanks I've really been trying to be more painterly lately
ClaytonBarton: Thank you
I'm enjoying where your styles heading and it depends on what type of work your looking to get into
I've seen people in WOTC do really loose paintings but then also see some ridiculous detailed stuff
I say just dont worry about it and just keep having fun learning and growing
till next time
sketchbook updated October 6th
Jamie Romoser: Thanks for the advice, man. Yeah I realized Jaime Jones and Craig Mullins prove that the loosness of art isn't a problem as long as you're good... now I just have to get good I'm just so used to looking at Bergkvist and Hannes Voß and now I feel guilty for not living up to that level of detail, like I'm doing myself a disservice because I know I can do high detail, I just reeeaaallly don't want to. But I'll get over it, I guess.
Here are some old pieces/sketches as promised
I was gonna upload some studies too, but you're only aloud 20 files per upload so I'll wait until later
First one is finished all of the rest aren't and won't ever be so it's all pretty much one big giant terrible upload... you're welcome?
Thanks for stopping by!
Btw, I don't have any art friends but I really want some so if you want to be my art friend you totally should... be... my art friend. Yeah. Feel free to talk to me (Private message me or something), after all I did join this site to connect more with other people who want to get better like me.

Awesome photoshop work man. recent upload is sick, especially like the witches painting has some bold plant life. However your paintings of women are amazing, the chic with the spider on her head is a bit creepy tho. Maybe its the square jaw. Thanks for uploading ur work, looking forward to more. Oh and thanks for the suggestion to look at Andrew Loomis' work, inspirational stuff.
Wow! More beautiful work! I love the sketches and the colored are awesome!
Of course I want to be your art friend and I think many others also will! I'm in here for the same reasons, to get bether and share experiences. Sorry I'm not very good at giving crit. I think it's hard to say to much about other peoples art since I'm not as good as you and many others in here. Well I'll do my best!
I'll be back soon!
Will McCraw: Thanks! Hope the book helps, it's definitely one of the best out there. Yeah, she was supposed to look kind of creepy cause of the theme but she just looks... wrong. I need to get better at drawing for sure.
Greenhouse: Aww thanks I'm the same way about giving crits, but I try to give them anyway just in case there's a chance I can help
Been experimenting more with painting without a drawing, used to be my worst fear but now (plot twist) I like painting better that way.
I've actually been pretty good about posting consistently recently. I'll try to keep it up.
i am so amazed by your armor renderings and your super polished interior shots! Is there a method or technique you use to acheive that super rendered or polished interior look?
check out my : SKETCHBOOK: All critiques much needed and WELCOMED!
nice sketchbook, love the interiors and enviros. those few paintings of fold studies are great keep it up
Wutangclam: I draw everything out and use the lasso tool to make silhouettes on separate layers when I paint interiors (and on some pieces too, depends on my mood), it keeps me from having to redefine the edges which makes everything more clean. I'm red-green colorblind so the way I color and render is heavily dependent on light physics and the more technical aspects of light/color but I don't know if it's the best way to paint, it's just the way I have to do it. Hope this helps.
Tofa: I will, thanks
I'm spending most of my time on personal/portfolio pieces rather than studies lately, so I've only got one pic to upload today, it's probably going to be that way for a while, maybe even no pics some days D:

Your perspective is amazing!
Your stuff is wonderful. Your character drawings are really beautiful and I really love how you paint them
Your paintings are very good. I like how painterly they feel.
I would love for you to make an interior tutorial. All your interior pieces have a very Algen look to them. Anyways don't ever stop posting !

MY SKETCHBOOK, COMMENT & CRITIC THE SHIT OUT OF ME
I like this last post. It reminds me of an old photo from the old days when they colored them with paint on the outside. I like how easy your brushstrokes are, just like paint on a canvas. Keep up the good work!
Forrest_I: Thank you, I'm glad the improvement i'm noticeable and i'm always trying to get better at painterly stuff since it's one of my biggest week spots (it just doesn't work with how i think) so these comments are really motivational
Pgf95: Thank you sir
Singing_Mower: Oh, thanks, i try but fail a lot in the perspective department. But im working on it
Jenny Jacobs: Thanks
Ozark: You should just watch Algen's old livestreams, he's way better than me anyway And thanks he's one of my favorite artists
Greenhouse: Thank you!
I have to study for a test tomorrow and i don't know any of the information because My teacher doesn't tell us in class, we have to read the book... which i don't have. Nooooooo! Oh well. This happens every week so i should be used to it by now, but nope.
I just want to paint/draw, not go to school. Boo.
Anyway i pretty much always upload when i procrastinate so here you go < 3
They're all just really fast sketches, i wanted to upload some drawing sketches and studies too but i didn't feel like going through them :/ But maybe i'll do that tomorrow, or maybe i'll look through them and decide they are too embarrassing to upload- you never know
I have better sketches but i want to turn them into finished pieces so i'm basically uploading the worst of what i've done in the last week. Sorry?
